Software Update Coming 7/22/09!!!

Here ya go Pre users, get ready for some enhancements, I know you are excited!!!

[ Informational ]

Palm Pre Updates

Demo phones on display

Steps are being taken to remove the demo software.

The demo software will automatically be removed with the next OTA SW

update (available on or near 7/22/09).

Email formatting issue

Issue is being worked. A fix will be available in a future software update.

Improvements coming with next OTA software update

Facebook friends will sync with your PC and your Palm Pre

Picture messaging enhancements

EAS email support that allows an IP address input

Ampersand and other symbols can be used in web application input

SMS will be able to see all "To" contact properties

Emoticon support

SMS - Timestamp 24 time capability

YouTube search / enter key enables searches

Removes the On Device Demo from retail display units

Palm Pre Battery Performance

Never place a piece of paper or other material into the battery well of the

Palm Pre or any Sprint device.

The Palm Pre battery fits perfectly in the device and adding a piece of piece

of paper will not improve device performance.

i don't follow the 'battery' part of the update...

is there something coming for it? throttle back cpu? something that will improve the life?

how do you know all of this? Where did you get ur info?

Well at least they are taking proactive steps to fixing the many softwAre bugs. And the fact that they are coming so soon after the initial release of the phone shows palms and sprints committment towards the device and what it has to offer. As opposed to some other mfg that take their grand old time "get around to it when I feel like it" attitude.

I really am not sure, that is the exact information I got in my email I just copy and pasted it. Im not sure what they are talking about with the paper in the batter either.

The email states not to place a piece of paper under the battery. And that the battery already fits perfectly.

If the update fixes a battery issue then it is definitely not anything to do with it not making contact. Have people state this as a problem? If they have they are wrong about why the device would power down, because I have seen plenty of Pre's and the battery fits in there tight, there is no way it is not making good contact. So hopefully this update brings something good for all the Pre users.
