Samsung Rant saved in outbox

On my samsung rant sometimes when i text while roaming, the sending message will say "Message to _____ failed to send, Saved in outbox." After looking in my outbox there is no such message. The setting "Save in outbox" is turned on, and this only happens while roaming.

I think this happened to me once or twice,
All I did was go into the chat history of the individual I was texting, and usually there would be a (1) next to their name, like a draft, and I could then open that persons history and there was the old "Hung" Text.
I usually had to send something, even if I completely erased the msg, I had to send something for it to disappear...

Don't remember if it was just a draft, or an issue from Roaming, but give it a try...

Where are you even finding an outbox? It gives me the same message about saving in the outbox when a message fails to send during bad reception, but I dont see an outbox. I click on the persons name to bring up the whole list of messages to see if it saves it in there and it doesnt. If I save a message to drafts manually, it saves it there, but when the phone itself saves a message for me and says its in the outbox they are never there and I can never find them again. Any thoughts?

I haven't had the problem you are refering to, I'm not usually texting in low coverage areas.
I did find a menu option that disables the "OutBox"
Messages menu off of the main menu.
then #9. Settings
And disable the Outbox first option.

hope that helps, don't know where it'll put your msg, but it might goto drafts which we already know where to find. Well I hope.

It's a darn shame that probably the best phone I've ever had (and I've had a bunch in 9 years), and a phone that (besides talk) is a text messaging powerhouse, has this one fatal flaw.

Did my homework on this and, according to Sprint text support, there IS NO OUTBOX FOR TEXT MESSAGING. The "outbox" is for picture messaging. Makes no sense, but I've had the same problem. In my job, I drive quite a bit in rural Southwestern Tennessee, and I know where most of the Sprint dead spots are. Just today I tried to send a text right at the moment that I dropped signal, and the message just vanished, while I got the obligatory message "Network Not Responding...message saved to outbox". Only, as I said, there IS NO text outbox.

You can try what's mentioned above and turn the outbox feature off. I haven't done that yet. I'm more inclined, since my time is valuable, and I hate having to re-type messages, is to know when I'm in a weak area, to type my msg and then SAVE AS DRAFT. Then when I've got good reception, send it. Pain in the butt, but it's a possible workaround.

Always remember that every phone has at least one quirk.
