Red Wings will repeat

As a Red Wings fan, I am predicting a repeat this year.

Made $5 off my friend whom is a Blues fan tonight

While here, whats up with the contracts recently. 12 year..13 year contracts only in hockey

Are you talking about Lecavlier? There has been some talk about him possibly leaving Tampa even though his 60 year contract isn't up. I'd consider him one of the top players in the league though so why shouldn't Tampa want him to stay?

Signing a long contract seems more beneficial for the team and less so for the player. For the player it means your family wont be moving around so much, but if the team sucks, then you can pretty much give up hope of the cup. The team however gets a superstar at a smaller price. Imagine if those players were to resign a new contract every 3-4 years? They'd probably make a few million more but the job security is not there.

I think there have been instances in other sports of long term contracts though. Alex Rodriguez signed with the Yankees for 10 years 250M. I'm sure there are others that are just not coming to mind.

yeah but usually you do see 3-6 year contracts.

12-13 seems like you said, less beneficial to the player, the team might be 'ok' now but could get worse...only way i see this working in the players favor is if the team is young with potential and has a great coach. otherwise if you sign like that with an older team your setting yourself up for failure.
