How to Upload and utilize Ringtones and Download pics/movies from Samsung Z400
Hi all,
I'm a VERY technical person (on computers), but new to cell phones and all of the ins and outs. I thought I asked all of the required questions, and apparently I did, but that apparently did not preclude getting mistaken info (at best). I decided to go with the new Z400 by Samsung. I was told the USB cable would allow me to off load pictures and movies from the Z400 to my PC and also allow me to upload ring tones to my phone. Now they tell me that is not the case. Apparently, the USB cable is ONLY for using the phone as a modem and/or charging the phone. Thus, apparently the only way I can get pictures/movies OFF the phone, and custom ring tones ON the phone, is to enable premium content and pay more. Not gonna happen. However, when I spoke with the repair guy at the local Sprint Store, he told me, (with a wink wink) about these forums, and added that there may be some PC Utility I can install which will enable me to do what I want to do. So, queston 1 is: 1. Is there a PC Utility I can run in windows that will access the Samsumg Z400 via the USB Cable that will allow me to off load Pictures/Movies from the phone to my PC, and allow me upload ring tones from my PC to the Phone? 2. Assuming the second part of my first question is "yes", does anybody know if the "Ringtones" from this site are compatible with the Z400, or do I have to use the "Polytones"? Any answers or extra tips you can share will be appreciated! |

Well, I have since received an email from Samsung, and as it turns out, the Z400 does in fact allow me to offload pictures and movies via the accessory USB cable. They provided step by step instructions and I can in fact see the option in the menus.
Granted, 21MB is not a huge amount of space, but it is sufficient for what I need. HOWEVER, the question still remains about ringtones. 1. Is there a utility I can run from Windows on my PC that will allow me to upload and utilize custom ringtones to the Samsung z400 from my PC? 2. If so, does anybody know what format ring tones are supported on the z400? |

well, no, that is just it, I do not have a Vision Plan, and do not want to just so I can transfer Ringtones to the phone.
I'm hoping somebody here can provide some insights as to how to get it done, and what format the ringtones should have. Anybody??? |
