Sprint Stores Closing For The Day On August 17.

I saw a Sprint Corporate sign yesterday at the sprint store stating that the store will be closed for the day on August 17.
Some big meeting is happening that day at another location. I think this one day closing pertains to all Sprint Stores.
Any thoughts as for the reason for this one day closing?

August 17th? Isn't that the day before the official release for the Airave to the public via Sprint stores? Maybe its a training day.

"Exclusive to Sprint, AIRAVE will be available for purchase at your nearest Sprint Store on 8/18." http://www.nextel.com/en/services/ai...=vanity:airave

Airave is set to release on the 17th. The training is not related to the airave. The store closing was actually announced some time ago but was just posted in print form recently in the stores. If you called a store's phone number, for the past couple weeks there has been a message noting that the stores would all be closed on this day.

Wirelessly posted (Treo 755p: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98; PalmSource/Palm-D060; Blazer/4.5) 16;320x320)

It has nothing to do with the Airave. It's additional training for the "Red Carpet" Customer satisfaction program.

On Phonearena there's a reader comment below the story about the Sprint store closings to the effect that employees will learn on Sunday that Sprint is being sold to DTAG, the owners of T-Mobile. Who knows if the poster has any credibility, but thought it was worth mentioning.

I would be shocked if that was true, first of all, Sprint is a public company, and if they were planning on announcing they were going to merge this coming Sunday it would be all over the news right now... It's probably them training for customer service issues, alot of stores do that where they shut down for the day and do training.

Hopefully it'll help out the stores and improve their image.

per the sprint website, they have pushed back the release date to the 18th. so maybe it does have to do with it

lol @ the comment that we're being sold to DTAG. I will come back and let you know ASAP if we are. The meeting is an ALLLLL day affair, that is going to be focusing again on the red carpet treatment. My manager has been super hush hush about it which is kind of annoying, but it's just another Huge training about customer service, YET again. Good waste of my damn sunday too. =/
