My sprint.com login still shows the data card usage as unlimited. Maybe Sprint is letting current customers keep the unlimited and just imposing the 5GB limit for new signup.

That is still poor on sprints end. If you think about mobile business professionals or even home users where even 1xrtt is faster than their only option of dial-up I mean I work for the cable company here and I have seen modems that are never used consume at least 1.5gb of transfer a month just from network communication

Why is it poor? People don't like it, fine, I understand. What people don't realize, is that this is a business decision, being made be a business, because they feel it is in their best interest. Also, as it has been stated, many, many times, this affects very few people.

Also, 1.5 GB from network communication?! Why on Earth would 50 MB per day be needed for "network communication?! That sounds a tad bit fishy.

I keep seeing an advertisement on television for an unlimited broadband card. It is with Cricket...the funny thing is in small print at bottom of screen, it says they have a 5gb cap also.

They can still call it unlimited. Go figure.

1 gigabyte=1024000 kbs.

1024000x $.03= $30720.00

is the change in language from WITHOUT a plan to WITH a plan a typo, or are we looking at horrendous overage fees here? the way it's now worded, it looks to me like I should cancel this thing immediately, or my next month will cost me my house.

Maybe they are looking for a quick way to make a buck on those "evil" abusers of the previous UNLIMITED plan. Heck, for $30,000 I don't think they would mind loosing those "troublemakers".

But seriously, 3 cents per MEGABYTE (or $30 per gb) overage would make more sense. No matter what course they take, they should make sure user is informed that they are in overage mode, some form of a popup confirmation with email and text message notification (especially if they are serious with the $30,000gb rate).

Someone better tell me something, or I'm chucking this broadband card out my truck window. My wife emailed me a 572 kb photo of my 6 year old the other day. 572x.03=$17.16. she could have had it developed into a hard copy and overnighted to me for that price.
I'm really getting weary of having Sprint employees giving me conflicting answers, then admitting they just don't know. The new wording looks to me like the worst case scenario is taking effect. Since they are making changes to the website, SOMEONE over there knows what the hell is going on.

I don't understand this.
I use PAM under the radar with my centro.
I surf the web, you tube some vids etc:
I have never come close to 5GB in a month, under pretty heavy use too.
How do people go over that?
Downloading huge files I guess?
Obviously Spirnt wants those users to find another solution.
At least they are honest about it.

With a datacard and EVDO, it's not too hard to go over 5 gb for me. I use around 10-12 gb a month with my ISP

what the overage charges will cost you!!

What $.03 per kilobyte costs.

1 email 10 KB =$.30

1 typical webpage 150 KB =$4.50

1 downloaded song from iTunes 4 MB =$120.00

1 typical 3 minute video on YouTube/Google 5 MB =$150.00

1 hour of 56k audio stream 25 MB =$750.00

1 typical 5 minute video on iTunes 30 MB = $900.00

1 hour of video stream or 2-way video chat 52 MB =$1560.00

1 typical 45-minute TV show from iTunes 200 MB =$6000.00

1 Full-length (2 hours) movie download 1.5 GB $45,000.00

1 entire DVD disk image 4.5 GB $135,000

Someone over at Sprint with some common sense and a calculator better fix this. If this is the new policy, I will post a video on youtube entitled Sprint Sucks. It will be 3 Sprint devices and the $200 per month voice and data plans that come with them getting run over repeatedly by a 80,000 pound tractor trailer.
