Voicemail Backdoor

Does Sprint have a backdoor number to voicemail?

On Nextel you call your prefix and 6245 (mail) and you can get in that way, but the only way i've found on Sprint is to call your number and hit star.

not that i am aware of a complete new number to reach the voicemail server, but if u have another sprint cellphone, you can prefix 11 to the 10 digit number (11-xxx-xxx-xxxx) and you'll reach voicemail directly.. then you can either leave or hit star, password and check.

There used to be a backdoor number. It wasn't toll free and Sprint actually took it down about 8 months ago or so.

You're welcome.

(11+any sprint number will send you into their voicemail from which you can hit *, but 11+that number will take you into the backdoor VM system and ask you for your mailbox number.

You can't call this from a landline.)

Which is what *most* people want in a backdoor to VM... the ability to check one's VM without using airtime. Yes Sprint used to do the same thing as Nextel, i.e. ANYSPRINTEXCHANGE+6245 (MAIL) got you Sprint's VM system, from a landline or otherwise. Sadly they took it down without explanation...

You can always call another Sprint customer whom you know won't answer (like my mom, whose Sprint phone is *always* off)... (then hit ** to get into general VM).

Why wouldn't you call your own number and hit **, I'm sure you can make sure not to answer

Dial the number you want to check the VM on. As soon as the mailbox picks up, hit *. Then it asks for the password to that mailbox. Pretty easy.

I never knew hitting * once does that. Thanks

From what I understand also, it must be a native Sprint number so there are a few instances where this does not work. By native, I mean the number originated with Sprint. When I want to leave a vm for my son I dial the 11 before his number and it sends me directly to his vms.

Sorry I wasn't more specific in my original post, but call me a creature of habit, I would like to do this from a landline.

Because if by the god forbidden chance I leave my phone somewhere I will have to wait for it to ring and goto voice mail. Or when I call from my desk I have to end the call (Or wait for it to ring through) and then clear the missed call. While before I could just reach over and dial the numbers to the Nextel Voice Mail and be in. Yes I know I am being difficult, but that's why I wanted to check to see if there was an easier way. I will do it this way from now on since there is no other way.

You can of course, but you'd also have to turn your phone off or sit through the entire ring sequence, whereas if you dial a phone that *is* off (like my mom's ), then you get into VM immediately...

I have been using this backdoor line for months now and yesterday it started saying "the user you called is not available.. please try your call again later"
Has this line been shut down or is it really temporary?

Anyone know any other landline backdoor numbers?

That backdoor has been shut for a while, Voice SMS and 11 + areacode + number are the only ones now
