Speaking of Clear, I just saw a TV ad for them today. Mentioned their $55 Home and On-the-Go plan. Aside from that, I also saw that there will be a news report on Clear's services on ABC 13's 4PM newscast, for those of you in the Houston viewing area.

We have AT&T U-Verse and it kicks butt. They just added 24mbps, I currently have 18 and it's fast enough for all of us. U300 TV package is perfect as well. 1 HD DVR and 4 remote boxes that are also HD compatible. Best part is I can schedule / record on the fly from any box, plus watch any recorded show from any box. How much do I pay for all of this you ask? $108 a month.

U-verse is not in my immediate area yet, else we'd have already switched to it.

Back from the dead....

Been having some issues with Wow cable/internet lately. They did a nation wide update last month and the customer service number was buys for a week. lol Cable has been glitchy and some problems with my high speed internet. My buddy has Time Warner and said they just tried to jack up his bill by 20 bucks. BS...

Wish I can live without Sports Center and the wife without her cooking shows. lol I don't need or want crazy high speeds (I'm cheap). hehe

Direct TV/AT&T high speed internet. I think it's uverse (forgot to ask speed)
Stupid 2yr agreement 1st yr 76.90 2nd year 96.90

Time Warner
T.V + 15mb = 103

Not sure what other options I have...

Charter Communications here.

Expensive and unreliable. Expanded Digital TV + 30 Mbps (3 Mbps up) Internet costs me $123.80/month and they include a free DVR.

But they are the only reasonably priced broadband around. Our only other option is Fronter Communications DSL which is almost $70 for reasonable speeds and they require you to have landline phone.

Went back to Time Warner basic package. TV + internet. Only 3mb down 1mb up. So far the speed is fine for my needs. 100 a month, I'm cheap. I just didn't want a contract with Uverse. I get a 100 off in 3 months + free WiFI hot spots.

For internet, I have TDS Telecom fiber... 100 megs down/40 megs up for $45/month.
For TV, I have Comcast: Preferred HD package with all premium movie channels, Anyroom HD DVR, and 4 extra HD boxes for $75/month.

I'd drop Comcast like a bad habit, and get TDS' iptv service if they carried NBA TV.

Back from the dead. I might be buying a 4K tv and wondering is Direct TV the only cable service that has some shows in 4K? Need to look to see if Direct TV is having any specials. Think they were giving a $250 credit at one point.

I keep also thinking about getting Sling player or something like it. I hate how expensive cable is. Not sure if that route is that much cheaper.

Main channels we want are ESPN, AMC, Big Ten Network, STO, TBS, Fox and the wife loves food newtork shows.

Yep, DirecTV is the only source of 4K content other than Netflix and Youtube.

Personally I would purchase a decent enough 4K TV which has a good upscaler, so your 1080i/p content will look good.

As for cable TV pricing, I managed to just negotiate a deal with Time Warner Cable for $110 a month for a Triple Play, which includes 200mb/20mb internet, the top TV package with all the premium channels, and a home phone I don't need.

You could always try that, depending on the area.

I have charter communications. Internet only package for $59/mo. Speed is usually 135 down and 4.5 up. I don't have home phone or tv services with any provider. I'm very happy with charters Internet.

I am a person of ADSL internet in ethiopia and I can tell that there is not any fluctuation with the speed you're offered. My connection hasn't gone off even once(not even during nighttime or busy times), it's 24/7.

But with regards to speed, your option, which is certainly 256kbps, is a lot slower than 3G.

But Kbps and KBps are different because b is for B and bits is designed for bytes.

256kbps means 256 kilo bits per second, where

1 byte(whatever we use everyday, whenever you consider file size, download speed...) = 8 bit(what ISPs use for marketing, to make it sound bigger) ,

so, 256 Kbps/8 = around 32 KBps, which a lot slower than 3G(in our country 3G is about 220 KBps, which is around 2 Mbps, again Mbps means mega bits per second)

Therefore, if what you long for is to try using internet for small(light-weight) browsing like

Using facebook(you still have to hold back rather: 6/10)

Using Emails(great for this: 8/10)

Googling, Researching, Reading(7/10)

Watch a youtube video at 144p(8/10)

While accomplishing this tasks, nothing within the background(like windows update and driver update) shouldn't be opened.

For these particular tasks 256kbps is simply not that bad

Delighted with this puppy playpen. Bought this for a stray puppy that individuals have exposed to the household for when we can't supervise our and him other doggies. Lots of space for him, a litter tray, food bowl with a bed. Very sturdy, not hard to erect/fold away uncomplicated to continue clean. The pen is fantastic for kittens would be ok for young puppies older puppies will push it over .
