My Touch is slow (phone scrolling etc). How to speed it up?

Is there any way to speed it up or unload some programs at startup or nothing will help? After soft reset I get 31%.
Thank you

You should have on average around 70MB of free ram, which is about 35%.

making sure there are "70MB of free ram" in order to run smoother? it's a waste of memory if you ask me.

i played with one at a sprint store over the weekend, maybe it was just me, it does seem slow

To the OP,

After a SR, and your memory is 31%-38% usage which indicates basically memory usage is normal and no background programs are open or running, you may have a problem with your registry paths. This usually happens if an application was not installed correct on your phone that screwed it up, or perhaps tampering with some OS files occured that were not suppose to be touched.

The best thing I would suggest to you, and you probably heard this, is to hard reset your phone so the OS gets reinstalled again, make sure to back you stuff up though

Perhaps also, as suggested, if your device RAM is lower than what was discribed above from the above post may also be the problem. However I doubt that seriously cause I believe there is a dedicate 128 RAM for the OS it self.

Generally what makes the phone performance slow down is all the background programs that remain open in the background. They need to be closed by using the memory manager.

Anything over 45% you will "notice" a perfomance decrease.

So, if you went into a Sprint Corp store and tried out the phone more than likely you are not experiencing the true performance of the Phone, because people before you have opened this and that on the phone leaving the programs running in the background.

Honestly, mines runs fairly fast. Are you comming from a different pda OS? Wm6 is by far a slow dog out the bunch.

Yes, mine lags quite a bit. It can take several secs to wakeup from standby and enter into the Phone app. I see that CPP (colored pie of patience) all the time. Even bringing up the Task Mgr list takes more than 1 sec...

Try turning off extra sounds for certain things like scrolling and the short tones for dialing, speeds those processes up a bit.
