Well, we all saw what happened to OSU when they played Florida...
Besides, the core players of the team are leaving this year. Maybe we can recruit some faster players. |

Well don't forget we all saw what happened to Michigan when they played USC last year... I think it's going to take Michigan a few years to get there program back up there.

At least we're getting a chance to (somewhat) redeem ourselves against Heisman winner Tim Tebow and the Florida Gators. Let's see if we learned anything since the loss to Oregon. |

Apparently one of the big things that affects this is some QB from NY that runs a 4.4 wants to play for Rich.
Now that Rich has moved to Michigan... he added Michigan to his list of schools to go to. It only takes a couple years to recruit the kinds of skill players he wants for his offense. If anything, I feel bad for Big Tex. Mallet was like your prototypical Michigan QB: big, strong, slower. He would have racked up a lot of yards under Carr... |

It's better to have a QB who can run for 10 yards on any given broken play than one who can possibly knock a player backwards, and then fall down.
I'm sure Mallet will play next year; however he would probably be sidelined if Michigan recruited a Dixon-like QB. It will be weird seeing Michigan running a spread look. |

Coach Rodriguez... hmm... certainly not the proto-typical Big Ten style coach.
But then again, the spread/option offense is taking College Football by storm. I am still on the fence about it though... will we still have a reputation of putting out atheletes that are pro material with this system? And by changing systems this dramaticly are we looking at 2 or 3 truly rebuilding years as Coach Rod gets the atheletes he needs? I read in an artilcle or two that Rodriguez has tweaked his system to fit the atheletes. This could speak well for Mallet in the short term, and I believe it will work for Michigan in the long term. Hopefully this will be a rebirth of a great program. Keep in mind that as bad as Michigan has been in the last few years, we still have the stats that most college programs dream of. Wouldn't Wisconsin, Iowa, Purdue, Penn State, and Michigan State LOVE to have our recent record?

The QB for his system will be the key. U-M gets wideouts that thrive in this system already. They might want some smaller, faster, better hands RB's but as long the one's we got have decent speed it can work. Perhaps there will be more passing in the short term and less QB run option, more of a hand it off or throw option with lots of play-pass. Hopefully he can teach a defense how to defend this style of offense too.

Umm.. yeah. The whole point of a spread offense is a QB who can run.
![]() If Michigan can slowly change their system, Mallet, Manningham, and the rest of the offense should probably play next year no matter what. The best news, IMO, is that UMich has only lost 1 recruiting prospect (a QB who prolly wasn't a running one) but we still have a good class. |

I think something good to consider would be a dual quarterback.... keep Mallet as your starter and pro style threat, and get Pryor (or someother true freshman) as your option style threat. It worked for Florida under Meyer (Chris Leak/Tim Tebow) well enough for a National Championship. This will give the team the ability to learn the spread with whom they are already comfortable (Mallett) and start learning the spread-option. I heard a rumor from a friend this morning (I can't find anything online to back it up, but it is from a source that hasn't steered me wrong before) that Manningham will go to the NFL after the Bowl Game. From what I have heard there was already friction between Manningham and Mallett. As for recruiting, I don't see any problems in the future. Michigan will always get a look from the people they want, and it seems that Coach Rod is good a closing the deal on players he needs. Put those two together and we will continue to have awsome recruiting classes.

I bet Rich Rodriguez is not a happy camper right now and he's probably wondering who's going to be QB.
We know what happened to Notre Dame after Quinn left. hmmmTop-ranked QB Pryor commits to Ohio State Go Buckeyes!http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/recru...ory?id=3301454
