You can check your local TV station's web site too. I know our TV stations offer text alerts for weather.

yeah guys.... but im more worried about SPAM text messages... I know a guy who signed up for SMS weather alerts and started getting all sorts of advertisments...

i always use my cast weather but it costs $3.99 per month. if you live in a severe weather area it may be worth the price.

as someone posted, the weather channel is free.
you may want to have 2 services in case one fails to alert you if you are in a severe weather prone area.
