gps on V9m

while most of the content here is not original (ie created by me), but it does take a bit of piecing together when i did it the other night... anyway, from what i know, there are 2 free programs that has gps capability for the v9m -

where 2.0, you should be able to to get it from sprint easily, works right out of the box

mobile gmaps - require a bit of setting up:
Enable developer root - https://developer.sprint.com/site/gl...activation.jsp
Once you register you can click on the "Device/ESN Activation Go there now" link.
- 1. Click on the "Develop" Tab
- 2. (On the left) choose "Enabling device for activation"
- 3. Click "Device ESN Activation" (ESN is in HEX and case sensitive. Use A, B, etc). The ESN is on your box or behind the battery.
- 4. Add your phone
- 5. After your phone is added, under "actions" choose active.
You might need to wait a few hours until the activation occurs.

download the program to your pc here - http://forum.mgmaps.com/download.php?id=115

upload both the .jad and .jar file to "applications" using this website
http://www.gtoal.com/pcs/

and you should be good to go. if you are getting errors, it's most likely due to your developer root wasn't activated properly.

goodluck all.

sprint navigation is available, and is completely visable on the outer LCD.

the problem, for me anyway, is that after 1-2 minutes the phone will say "NO GPS" when it's certainly available.

I wonder if the GPs is going idle since the phone is closed.

I can get mine to work with the sprint navigation. I have not tried it with the flip closed as of yet. I will try that on my way to work this morning and see what happens.

I am currently using MG-MAPS on my V9M and it is workign great using the internal GPS and Sprint Developer active. Could not be more happy, unless I was getting Sprint Navigation for free.

Look at that, GMap-Track dot com is just like Mologogo dot com which is what I had on my Boost/Nextel phone. Works very well on my A900M. Doesnt give directions like my Telenav and Garmin but it might be of use if you have no other options.

3gInferno has Telenav & two Garmin app's available for d/l. I think they have Garmin 303, and Garmin 21. Any opinions on which of the three works best? BTW, they're free d/l from that site (3ginferno.com on your V9M browser).

Hey, I followed the installation steps outlined in this forus thread, but it seems like it takes a long time for the maps to load, even when I have good coverage (bars). Any issues with lthe maps loading slowely (white screen)?
