Thumbs up Connect a900 via QPST build 215! Easy to read directions

First, download and install the A900 Driver from Samsung.
Reboot your computer, and connect the USB cable to the computer.

Next, download QPST 2.7 (build 215) . Follow the instructions to install.

Download MSL Reader (or http://rapidsharing.com/download.php?id=D67EB659) NOTE: Alternatively, you can call Sprint (*2) and request your MSL from them. Either tell them you need to program it and you know how to, that you messed up your Vision settings and need the MSL to fix it, or say you need to activate your phone (the number they give you to enter is your MSL).

Connect the phone to the data cable, but do not “Connect to PC”.
Open your device manager, click on Ports to see which is assigned to “USB Virtual”

Open the MSL Reader executable file.

Set COM Port to whichever Port is your Virtual USB port and click Read Phone.
You will probably want to memorize your MSL (SPC) or save it in a .txt file

Next open QPST Configuration, click on Ports tab, and click Add New Port.

If the port does not show up on the left, manually enter it as you saw it in the device manager. Click OK. Your phone should come up in a matter of seconds. Click on it and go to Start Clients --> EFS EXPLORER.

Enter your MSL in the box and click OK.

You have successfully connected your Samsung a900 to your PC via QPST.
If you followed the directions as described, you shouldn't have any problems.

Now go here for ibri's great info on uploading content

and here for kami-sama's directions on uploading ringers

If you follow the directions as described, you shouldn't have any problems.

yeah I'm wondering the same thing. How do I create a virtual com for the pocket pc connected via usb? I searched google and tried a few but they didn't do it. I'd love to try the MSL reader

Yea, I left it "not connected to PC" and "connected to PC" never got a com port... I try com ports 1 and 2 in MSL Readerand it just says reading.. nothing ever actually pops up

the msl reader is VERY picky and doesnt always work right. it also helps to know which com port the phones using so you can atleast narrow it down from there. if you cant get the msl reader working after a few tries... just cal sprint and say you need to reprogram your vision or something. if they say no.. call back. you\'ll eventually get it. just dont sound like a jackass when asking for it and there shouldnt be an issue.

another way to MAYBE get the msl reader working is to sync your phonebook with datapilot then try again. that works for me sometimes. the MSL reader DOES work... its just buggy sometimes. i suggest not writing a new SPC code either.
