My friend gave me a phone that is NOT stolen!!!! I want to actvate it (a900) but when I called Sprint they said it was on the "blacklist". Does anyone know how to get around the black list?!?!?!?! I want to use the phone but they said he owes money ($175). HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!! I have to hit my 8200 every time I want to text someone.

There is no way around it.

The phone is registered to an account that has an outstanding balance, it will not be "released" and be able to be used until the outstanding balance is paid.

SG-- I actually had an account with a handset someone gave me that had an unpaid balance. Once the account has gone to write off, at the end of the fiscal year (i.e. 2004 write off being discharged may of 2005) then the phone is cleared to use, that usally takes so long, it's pointless to wait, but yes, you can wait...and an ESN will finally clear. I eventually just had the ballance transferred to my current account because I had $2,000 in credit for early bill payments, and returned deposits when I switched from personal to business account.

I have a question, if I get a new phone, does that mean I need to have a zero balance to sell my old phone?

Hey guys I DID IT!!!!!!! Hold your applause, I just called the Number on the back (1-888-211-4727) and told the lady that i had a phone that a friend gave me. I told her the ESN and she told me to Press the # key twice and some other numbers. Put my phone number in and just like that I'm using the phone. Do you think that this is wrong? Will I get in trouble????

the ESN has to be one that the sprint computer will accept to have your line switched to. If the computer accepts it the rep tells you to press "## (6 numbers)#" and the 6 numbers generally are different for every phone. after that its easy

i dont see how the phone was blacklisted then... if XXXXXXXX(ESN) is blacklisted... the only way to activate the phone would be for the account to write off as mentioned above OR changing the ESN in the phone itself to a clean Sprint ESN.

how would activating it get around this?
