Need new phone and avoiding the activation fee...

All right guys,

perhaps you can help me here. My Samsung A-460 is reaching the end of its line (i.e., it's not working!). I'm in my 3rd two-year contract with Sprint. I need a new phone, and I really detest the fact I'm paying for an activation fee, when all I'm doing is upgrading my phone. I have had this phone for at least 3 years, so I know that I can get a $150 rebate on my next phone. Is there a way to avoid an activation fee, considering I've been with Sprint for a long long time. I don't think it's fair to charge someone an activation fee when they have been a user for so long. If I purchase my phone online, will I have to pay this fee to upgrade?

Jason

Id imagine if you called and ordered through telesales they could waive the fee, or if you went into the store and got a nice rep they could as well...

I was about to say just buy your phone at the Shack and say the rep didn't tell you about the activation fee.
