Just order this phone, kinda excited to get it.

I'm upping from a 8830. After much time spent on playing with the Pre and Tour, I decided both of them not worth my 170 bones (tax incl.). Pre - a lot of people convince me that I would have to carry a charger around to get through the day (No ***** Way). The HTC Hero looks good, but no keyboard. The Tour? It has nicer screen and an updated OS - definitely NOT worth the 170 bones.

So that left me with the Curve2. I sold my first Curve after the trackball broke. For 60 bucks, I'm willing to test this baby out. Hopefully this would turn out ok

Well...I am STILL not having any luck with Google Mobile App and Google Maps when it comes to the GPS "my location" in both apps.

It finds me, but the location of where I really am and what it's telling me is not even close.

If you know California, I am located in South Orange County (Mission Viejo) and it says my location is San Fernando Valley...that is over 100 miles away!!!

Anyone experiencing the same issue with the 8530 or is it finding you correctly?

When I first started using the phone, it was finding me just fine (within 1000 meters). Now, it's not even close!!!

RJ... is it only Google maps that's throwing the location off by that much or is it every other mapping application? Have you tested it in BING?

I found the culprit: It's my AIRAVE and it only messes up the GPS on Google Maps and Google Mobile App.

When I turn off my AIRAVE OR I am somewhere else away from my AIRAVE, the Google apps find me within 1200 meters.

The AIRAVE does NOT affect any other App that uses GPS (Live Search, BB Maps, BerryWeather, Sprint Navigation, etc.)

WEIRD!!!!!

when it is giving you stuff like 1200 meters, it is not using ure GPS..it is triangulating ure location from cell towers

I agree, it's not great. But, my point was that it's the AIRAVE that is throwing off GPS in all of my Google apps.

When I have the AIRAVE turned on, it says I am located in San Fernando Valley...that is over 100 miles away from where I actually am.

I turn off my AIRAVE and it gets me within 1200 meters. So, the AIRAVE is definitely messing with my Google programs
