considering leaving Sprint to Verizon for the new $60 plan

I have an Everything Data Any Network plan - 400 min + 300 min bonus anytime minutes to landlines, unlimited texts, and unlimited data, all for around $81 or so after a credit union discount of 10%.

Although I hate Verizon, I am considering bolting for Verizon with their $60 unlimited talk / text & 2GB / month data plan. If you go over 2GB it's $15 for another 1 GB.

I figure my monthly data usage is 1-1.5 GB, but even if I go over 2GB I'm still paying $75 for up to 3 GB (still cheaper than the Sprint bill currently).

The Verizon plan offers immediate LTE in all areas I visit regularly (Phoenix got screwed by Sprint for Wimax and LTE), and the $60 plan includes phone upgrades as well.

I have been month-to-month with Sprint for a year now, waiting for Sprint to improve service or costs with other carriers to go down.

It seems like now might be the time to bolt to Verizon, since Sprint's service is so bad in Phoenix / AZ area.

I'm thinking wait until iPhone 6 is introduced, then make the switch to get all new hardware and a better network, at least until Sprint catches up, then switch back to Sprint at sometime in the future if it makes sense.

What do you all think?

Sprint releases iphone 6 in 19 days.
Or so my call site director has told me.
As far as leaving sprint:
We offer 2 new plans as of aug 22 2014

Unl Talk text and data for 60$ ( To join this plan, an installment billing / Easy pay financing is reqired. So 1 line would be 60$ for service; + roughly 20 - 30 extra for a phone; + tax. - 10% of 30$ for the discount toward data charges. )
Youd pay a little more, but it'll keep your data unlimited; and paying less than full service with another carrier. Also, saves the headaches of new contracts and beingf stuck with Verizon's ****TTTTTTTY Customer service rep's. ( worst ive ever dealt with )
( By the way, i'm A Current Sprint Supervisor )

Sounds like a good plan to me, minus the coming back to Sprint part.

I, too, am thinking about leaving Sprint and getting on the Verizon $60.00 plan. I am currently on the $50.00 SERO Premium with Premium Data plan.

You pay a little more for Verizon, but you get SO MUCH more. Sprint's network is 3G-only where I live, and even 3G data speeds are pathetic. Almost unusable - it's like dial up modem speed. And NOT the fancy 56k modem either. Plus my coverage with Sprint vanished as soon as I drove about 15 minutes north. Out here in the wilds of northern New Jersey, Verizon is the only viable choice.

The latest Sprint $50 gimmick with the iPhone plan is like the straw that breaks the camel's back. As a diehard Android user I'm a little ticked off... this may very well be the final straw in porting over to Verizon.

You port to any of the carriers that will pay your etf/installment plan balance for you.

Sounds like you used either 130MB (which is 0.13GB), or 130GB. I doubt it was the latter.

If that's really all the data you're using you would probably be better off with page plus or straight talk.

Well I don't listen to music, use facebook, very seldom check email, only surf when need to find info, don't stream anything, don't use it for gps, or all the other things people go over board doing with their phones. Basically all I do is take pics and upload via dropbox, txt, voice calls, surf for info when needed I think that is about it. If I want to d/l something, check email, facebook, surf I use my tablet or desktop

Then that really does make you the perfect candidate to switch to page plus (uses Verizon network) or straight talk (uses Verizon? or at&t). You keep the coverage of whatever network works best for you, while not paying a premium for data limits you won't even be close to reaching.

The only downside to prepaid service is the lack of premium handsets, but if you are ok buying on the secondary market (aka used) then I would seriously look into it.

Looks like Verizon changed the plan to $60 for only 1GB...
