Trender, Rumor Touch, Transform, Seek?

I'm a smartphone guy, but my GF's mom wants to upgrade from a Katana to a messaging phone with a landscape keyboard.

Which phone should she get? She's not exactly technically inclined and won't be using it for web or data, just calls and SMS/MMS.

Run far from the transform. If you want to give her a low end Android option, try the Replenish.

What's wrong with the Transform?

She doesn't want an Android phone and will be using this phone with the $50 talk and message plan.

Oh, derp, the Transform is Android.

I guess that narrows it down to the LG Rumor Touch, Samsung Seek, and Samsung Trender. Any comments about the relative merits of these?

The Samsung Seek is atrocious. Antenna sucks, touch screen is glitchy and terrible for people who aren't used to one, or have big fingers. The OS starts freezing after 6 months or so. I have one, and my mom has one. Don't get it.

The Seek/Trender is basically the same phone that uses the same system that the Instinct uses. She may like it, she may not. There's no inbetween LOL. The Rumor Touch would be better

My daughter has the Rumor touch and hates it. It freezes on her and will radomly power off on her when she is texting. Sprint has not been good about fixing this problem.

My experience says that the Rumor touch is better than the Seek. The Seek's interface is lousy, and the Rumor's is OK.

Another vote for the Rumor Touch. We have two and don't have major problems -- every once in a while a glitch, but haven't found too many modern phones that don't glitch.
