Nexus S Known Issues

As this is a Google Only phone, all issues are by design or must be fixed by Google.

1) When user chooses Volume Down all the way it shows Vibrate Mode but does not actually vibrate. User must go into Settings > Sound to enable vibration.

2) MMS messages will not be sent or received when connected to 4G or Wifi or during active call. This is by Google design.

3) No TTY if you are deaf.

4) Both SMS and MMS are limited to 160 characters (MMS is normally 1000 characters)

5) Hotspot: Default security is "Open", only other option is WPA2, and there is not Hotspot timeout.

6) No 4G Widget or Shortcut

7) Global Address List search is available only when composing an Eexchange Active Sync email on the Nexus S 4G and has the following limitations:
  • Must enter a name into the “to” field when composing an email. Will see “searching” during the query to the enterprise server.
  • Enter the last name only to retrieve the first 20 results and there is no way to view the rest
  • Entering last name, first name will not return any results
  • Search key is not used in email
  • GAL Search in landscape does not provide "searching" feedback
8) Nexus does not have an LED indicator. Must wake up device to check notifications.

9) No Camera Zoom function.

10) Once Google Voice is activated on the handset, cannot switch back to Sprint voicemail from the handset.

11) After deleting all pictures and videos from the device, the thumbnail for the last picture or video captured on the devices remains visible in the gallery. This thumbnail image is a "ghost" image and is not functional meaning it can not be opened, assigned to a contact, shared or played. If the user captures a new image or video, the "ghost" thumbnail will disappear. If a user wants to clear their device and completely delete the "ghost" thumbnail image, they can complete a factory data reset via the settings menu. Be sure to inform the customer that this process will erase all data on their device including the user storage portion of their device memory. Menu->Settings->Privacy->Factory Data Reset->Check "Erase USB Storage"->Reset Phone

The Nexus S is perfect and you will not soil its reputation.

This is a good list to have. Google is usually pretty quick with fixes.

Right. You work for HTC or something? I would like to see proof of all this crap. Plenty of people have had the phone for a day or two and are reporting zero problems aside from a few crashes.

Sprint is still deciding which photos to release, some of the images are too graphic for young viewers

Sorry, the phone was thrown off an aircraft carrier buried at sea, in accordance with Google tradition.
