I just did the manual update and all went well. Speed test after update was about 50% better at office but won't be able to determine much more until this evening.

Is 3g reception any better? That was my main complaint with this phone (as well as the EVO 3d).

So far fat my office, 3G signal seems to be stronger and fluctuates less than it used to.

Are you just looking at the bars, or measuring actual performance? They adjusted the bars to be more optimistic, as I understand it.

Does the phone still drop voice calls after the update?

I've had 2 Nexus S 4G's and the first one never did (drop calls). For some reason this second one I have does, and still does after the update. Weird...

It disables the free HOTSPOT. You have to subscribe to it for it to work.

Currently at my gym where I had no 4g and one to two bars of 3g. After the update I'm now getting three bars with 3g and two bars of 4g. So I guess for me the update was a big improvement.

I'm interested in how many see an improvement in signal and calls. Speaker volume any better?
Was thinking of upgrading to the Nexus.

Now is a terrible time to upgrade to the Nexus. The Photon is just around the corner, and the SGSII is coming up soon.

As noted, my signal strength is much better. I never had the wifi or dropped calls like others appear to have had and I've never had any complaints about the speaker. I'm sure the Photon will have its list of issues too just like the evo 3d and every other phone. Other carriers included. Nexus is working out fine for me.
