It does if you add more salt.

Won't that actually raise the boiling temperature, thus take more time to boil?

No, it will lower the boiling point, thus helping it boil faster.

Distilled water (with very little or no particles), for instance, has a very high boiling point...

Ah, I learned differently. Here is what I found from US Dept. of Energy.

"As soon as any of the salt dissolves in the water, the boiling point of
the water
will begin to rise -- by about one half degree Celsius for every 58 grams
of salt
dissolved per kilogram of water. In fact, any non-volatile soluble
substance will
raise the boiling point of water. That is why antifreeze (ethylene glycol)
provides boiling protection in winter as it simultaneously provides freezing
protection in the summer."

Interesting... I learned it differently, but I guess if Uncle Sam (*.gov) says it raises the boiling point, then it must do.

I stand corrected.

Does that also mean that salt can raise your tax refund amount?

Not really, but if the Tax Rebates bill goes thru, people are getting some tax rebates. For each kid, that would mean an extra $300 to spend on a phone so you can add another line thru Ensemble.
