It should also be faster in pretty much all aspects, all while being enclosed in a familiar shell. And while there is nothing really revolutionary about it for some, the iPhone 4S has enough to lure majority of consumers with its fast processor, good camera, and the availability of tons of apps.

This is quite a tough one to call if you already own an iPhone 4, although if you use your iPhone for taking a lot of photos, then the new 8 megapixel camera may be worth the upgrade.

The addition of Siri to the iPhone 4S isn’t really a deal breaker, and you can probably live without it, as it is still in beta at the moment, and more of a novelty than a useful tool.

Whether you choose the iPhone 4 or the iPhone 4S, they are both great smartphones, and you get many of the features, Siri excluded on the iPhone 4, as you do on the iPhone 4S thanks to Apple’s iOS 5.

The processor, camera and addition of Siri are the most obvious differences. And, of course, a very big difference is COST. The iPhone 4 is $99 and the iPhone 4S is $199.

You might consider waiting just a little while for the iPhone 5. It is rumored to be coming out soon. This will drive the price of the iPhone 4S to $99 and the iPhone 4 may be free with contract.

As stated above: Processor, camera, Siri. Also I believe the dual antenna.

The iphone 4 is $99 but has 8GB. The 4S starts at $199 with 16GB's.

I would hold out for the iphone 5 if I was you as well. But since this is for your dad he might not care either way. But the 4/4S are 3G only and my phone was pretty much a brick on the 3G network. If you area is getting LTE fairly soon I would wait for the 5 for sure.

Well, if you need my advice.. then buy iPhone 4S..

it is much better than iPhone 4

A 4S is current and for cool people. A 4 is old and for losers. The internalities don't matter much as 998 out of 1000 people never use them.

well if you don't want siri, there isn't much of a difference. the camera is worlds apart and i think most people would rather have 16gb of storage as opposed to 8gb. you can notice the speed differences with plenty of 3D games. iOS 6 maps 3D mode and turn by turn directions will only work on the 4s too.

To the naked eye they look the same, but really the 4S is a freaking performance beast that stomps the 4.

The GPU, CPU, and extra RAM makes everything snappier and far more responsive, and it isn't like the iPhone 4 is a slouch in that area, so that is saying a lot.

In terms of computational power, this is how the 4S and 4 compare in synthetic benchmarks.
