It's no laughing matter to HTC. They've released 50 phones or so since 2008. At one point they were the gold standard, with the first android phone, the first Nexus, and the Evo.

All that was shot to hell in 2011, when they went happy hog wild on the phone releases.

Too many phones wrecks your logistics and procurement, and eats an insane of amount of money, which destroys your profit margins, and makes HTC far too vulnerable to Apple and Samsung releases in Q3/Q4.

If I ran HTC, I would sell 2 phones (sans Evo), a low end, and high end. Same GPU and SOC, with different screen tech, RAM, screen sizes and features for different price points.

I'd dump zero R&D funds into Sense, and make a 100% pure Google phone, with custom Sense widgets and HTC services you can charge for.

The end result would be two phones where all the money goes into phone quality and could be easily updated within 6 weeks of any new Google releases.

Keep it simple, be nimble, high speed, low drag, and keep all the money in the product.

HTC on Monday reported earnings for the fourth quarter last year along with guidance for the first quarter that missed analysts’ estimates. Further highlighting the slump that began in October with the launch of Apple’s iPhone 4S, the Taiwan-based vendor posted fourth-quarter revenue of NT$101.42 billion, or approximately $3.5 billion USD, down 2.5% compared to the same quarter in 2010. Gross profit slid nearly 12% in the fourth quarter to NT$27.5 billion, and HTC’s total assets on hand at the end of the year slid more than 33% to NT$254.59 billion. In the first quarter of 2012, the vendor expects the rough patch to continue ahead of new product launches due later in the first half. HTC said first-quarter sales will likely fall between NT$65 billion and NT$70 billion while Wall Street expected guidance of approximately NT$85 billion.

Personally, sales wise I think the GS3 is going to crush the HTC One. HTC just doesn't have that luster anymore.

As an Evo 4G and Evo 3D owner, there is no way I would buy another HTC phone. Samsung phones are so much better.

The HTC One series won't have removable memory, no removable battery. Good bye HTC... market share will continue to fall compared to Samsung's awesome Galaxy phones.

How do you know it's better if you don't own one? Nothing has been announced for sprint so we can't be sure of anything.

I don't need to know that no microSD card, no removable battery, plus a less bloated version of HTC sense is going be better than the Samsung Galaxy line.

It was a question cause you didn't list the touch. I have had all those phones and I also have an opinion that differs from yours. Like I said we will have to wait and see what sprint wants to sell. I still think those things that you don't want would be the same for sprint. More problems than advantages imo. And update your profile lol.

We don't know that the SGS3 will have an sd card. Samsung might also get on the integrated battery bandwagon because it is a good way to reduce thickness.

ive had the samsung i830w and the intercept
and ive had the htc mogul the touch pro the evo and evo shift
honestly the htc phones have all been better although the i830w still works and had the longest batty life out of all of those phones

Well that's a given, but as far as Android phones I see HTC continuing to lose marketshare. Their designs just aren't innovative anymore and all their phones basically look the same.
