The first public Alpha build of CM9 was released early yesterday morning. I have been running it on my Touchpad since last night and am really liking it. Not perfect - but for a 0.0 alpha, pretty damn good - and I would expect that the CM crew and other developers will have the major bugs and missing features taken care of.

Aside from the current inability to use the Netflix app and not recognizing AdHoc networks... so much better than CM7.

I don't care about ICS, I just want a stable Android 2.2 to run for my work apps.

I may be getting Touchpad this month, was curious what is the update on getting Android goodness on the pad? IS CM9 past alpha/beta or zed?

i would say yes. the current builds are as functional and stable as android on my phone.
