Just went to my local Sprint store to exchange my flaky Airave and had a chance to see and play with the phone. Real nice, I still want my iPhone but this would be my second choice.

Correct me if I am wrong, but since the Echo is 3G only, has it replaced the Optimus as probably the best option for staying at $40 a month on SERO-P? I am not a huge fan of the Echo, but the specs are a lot better than my Optimus. I would not want to use my upgrade credit for an Echo, but could see myself selling my HTC TP2 and Optimus (both in like new condition) and buying an Echo off Ebay or here to tide me over until around October.

But since it is still quite new I am not seeing a lot of mint condition used or refurbs for sale yet at a reasonable price.

I like a big screen. The two together gives a 960 x 800 resolution - almost 1024 x 768. I got rid of my Netbook because I found 1024 x 600 too annoying.

I don't think a price cut this early indicates great sales, unless that was sarcasm

Netflix on Kyocera Echo

Has anyone tried the Android Netflix streaming app on this phone since Netflix released the version that took out the device-checking code?

1) does it work?

to cut out uncontrollable factors, let's stick with streaming over wifi for the following questions.

2) what is your wifi speed and how do you find the picture quality?
- a) on one screen?
- b) spanning two screens (tablet mode)?

3) have you seen Netflix streaming on any other Android phone, and if so, how does it compare?

Thanks!

I have tried everything I know and have been unable to get Netflix to stream anything on the Echo. The app installs fine but if you try to stream anything the app just quits the stream after less than a second. This goes for 3G and WiFi and whether or not you're using one screen or two...

I've edited build.prop and also tried tweaked versions from XDA, still no go.

Thanks for the response! I didn't really have anything to add so didn't say anything.

However, if you hadn't tried it already, I did hear that a day or two ago they released a new version of the Netflix app (v1.3) that apparently works just fine on the Echo.
