Kyocera Echo review

It's not exactly difficult to put into words what the Kyocera Echo is -- it's a dual-screened Android phone, after all -- but it's a wee bit more challenging to wrap your head around who exactly it's for.

Pretty solid review, So many people have proclaimed this phone a disaster since it was announced, It was refreshing to see some real world results.

if they could have gotten rid of the annoying black space between both screens + given it a bigger battery Id have thought it would been intresting but those 2 things alone just ugg. Hope their next one finds a way to do both those. Anyone do a real life battery life test on it yet? curious how long one of those small batteries does last.

It's more interesting than I originally thought it would be. I do miss the lack of 4G though, especially since nowadays you pay the extra $10 on ALL phones, not just the 4G ones, so it feels like you're paying a premium data fee on a phone that won't consume any more bandwidth than phones before the $10 fee on account of the connection speed being the same old 3G.

Concerning battery life, This is from the Engadget review,

"We took a different approach. We charged the phone fully and then went about using it as we normally would for an entire day -- checking emails, browsing through TweetDeck, zoning out on a conference call for an hour or so, watching a bit of Sprint TV and playing entirely too much full-screen Pac-Man. We'd say 70 percent of our usage had both panels open, which is likely far greater than what you'd see after the novelty wears off. That said, we managed around 15 hours of use before it petered out, and on a second try -- one that involved far less dual-screen action -- we squeezed out 22 total hours. Truthfully, neither of those results are awful, but it's fairly obvious that an avid user could kill this thing in under a dozen hours, hence, the additional battery. Is it a deal-breaker? Depends on how difficult it is for you to keep your handset plugged in and charging at work, we'd argue."

It could be the phone that turns Kyocera's brand perception around.

After all, a decade ago, a Hyundai was considered the most sour of all lemons. Now, Hyundai was able to turn their company around into something that some people actually WANT to buy (rather than just a low cost option).

Hopefully, this phone will be a step in the right direction.

just read the bgr review. Pretty positive, and I'm glad. Sprint made a big deal about this phone, I'd hate to see it universally panned. I still think the styling of it is beyond ugly, but I'm glad to hear that it actually works well. Maybe I'll check out the next iteration.

It's a cool phone if you want to multi-task or if you are looking for a bigger screen while in tablet mode. I've had it for a few weeks and find new cool things about it all the time. It's really made for entertainment like watching videos or multi-tasking.
