Samsung Zio screen sensitivity improved by Zagg protector(?!)

My wife got a Samsung Zio when it was free at Best Buy about a month ago.

The screen is beautiful, call quality fine. Unfortunately the touch sensitivity is poor and the GUI is a bit laggy. This assessment appears to be pretty much unanimous across The Internets.

Here's the weird thing:

I installed a Zagg Invisible Shield last night and noticed that the screen seemed to accept input more reliably. I thought that was odd and wondered if my wife agreed. So I handed her the phone without comment and within an hour she told me the same thing.

Are we just imagining this? How would one explain this improvement?

DOH! Yes I do. And I can't seem to edit my post. Could a moderator help, por favor?

I noticed the same thing on my ZIO, Not really sure what I installed but it made a major improvment on the Sanyo ZIO as the screen is way more responsive.
