Add a Basic Line

Since my wife and I no longer have a landline, we're looking to add a line to our family plan to keep a phone at the house for the babysitter, or if there's an emergency and my kids need to call for help. My wife has a Pixi and I have the Hero... way to advanced for my 5 year old to work.

I'm looking to get a cheap and add it to my family plan for $10/month. The problem is my plan is the Everything Data Share 1500. And to add even this basic phone is going to cost $20/month.

Is there no way to add a phone without web, text, etc, and just have a phone that shares the minutes on this plan?

Thanks

You ever thought of just getting a generic pre-paid cell phone if you don't expect your kids or babysitter to be talking for hours and hours.

you may want to consider a prepaid phone. PagePlus can be done for about $3/mo (actually $10/120 days and 83 mins). works with nearly any Verizon phone, including used, junky ones.

or, for the long term, Tmo prepaid is even cheaper. nearly any Tmo or unlocked GSM phone...

Yes, I did think about pre-paid, but the problem I found is you had to recharge it, $20 every 90 days or the minute expire, which is just fine, but I was jsut thinking for a few dollars more a month I would add a line to my already existing acct with Sprint.

I will certainly check out the other prepaid options you provided.

Problem with magic jack is we only have laptops, that aren't on all the time.

So i called sprint and got them to add a 10% discount to my plan, so that's $12 each month. So i got a line added to my everything plan for $8/month.
