Any led flashlight apps yet for the evo?
I tried a few off the market and nothing has worked. I just want a simple app to turn on both leds when I press a button. Im wondering if this might cause issues though. Leds in stock form will turn on when taking a picture, then right before the picture takes they will get about twice as bright for the flash. They are extremely bright, but since they are only on for 1/4 second at that brightness they shouldn't have any issues. If someone makes an app to turn them on at max brightness that could cause the leds to fail.

We might have to wait for root for this. I've not seen anything that will work yet.

The only issue I see is killing the leds. With such a slim phone I doubt they have a decent heat sink. It's probably why the leds are disabled on video mode. I think this app is for short use only on the low setting.

This is a fantastic find!
I have an app on my Q9C to use its 'flash' as a flashlight. I use it all the time! Think I know what one of my first app downloads will be now =D

BTW, SOS is Morse code... =)
Sounds great! I added it to my AppBrain. Don't even have an Android phone yet, but I have an AppBrain. My Brain is drooling for this phone.

The app warns you about permanent damage, so you should proceed at your own risk. I'm not a physics expert, but can LED lights actually die from being used too long?

As someone already mentioned leds have a very long life unless they are pushed too hard, which I think could be a big problem with this phone. I probably wont use this app very much at all unless I absolutely need it. |
