Still cheaper than the no discounts. But still higher than $30 + $5 tax.

If tax on $30 is $5, then tax on $60 will probably be $10 making it $70/mo

Taxes very by location and is pretty much a moot point. Some places have obsurdly high cell phone taxes and others are reasonable. Now Sprint's fees that they try and disguise as taxes are a whole different story.

I don't know how accurate this is but it is a list of taxes by state.
http://www.askstudent.com/money/cell...axes-by-state/

Looks like the range is 10%-20% plus fees which for me are two to three times actual mandated taxes. I average around $10-$12 in taxes/fees on a $50 plan

Unhappy

It's quite sad that I can't upgrade to an Android phone. I just got a reply from ecare and they mentioned that I have to upgrade to the everything referral plan or something like that, but I like my current plan is right now. I loved playing around with my co-worker's new Android phone he got from Verizon especially that turn-by-turn street view for GPS. It's not an iPhone, but I really don't care about that phone anyway.

Ya, I'll get a advanced phone when I can afford one IN ADDITION to my SERO line, I'll never give up the SERO line. Right now my SERO line contract is good until mid 2011.

After finally succeeding in switching from the $50 SERO plan to the $30 plan, I also will not be giving up my plan in the foreseeable future.

Found an interesting NY times article about cellphone plan pricing strategies:

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/15/business/15price.html

The gist of it is cellphone companies don't really know what they're doing when it comes to pricing. Some excerpts:

"'Service providers don’t have a good measure of their costs,' said Philip Marshall, an analyst for the Yankee Group. 'They don’t have the ability to say if they are going to make money' on any particular plan.

PUT simply, all a phone company wants is to get as much money as possible each month from its customers. Then it hopes that this total is more than its costs."

no disrespect moated but that sounds retarded that they would operate like that. there is no way they could be successful.

Prior to SERo ever existing, there were different phones that had internet "Vision" and "Power Vision", and Sprint wanted you to pay extra for Power Vision, until they no longer had any old Vision phones left and they just got rid of that distinction.

When or if WinMo disappears, or in a year or 2, these limitations may not apply any more once they are no longer useful to get subscribers to upgrade.

That why I switched to a Blackberry a few months ago - there will always be Blackberries on Sprint and therefore I hope to be grandfathered into any future phone upgrades.

what is the hd2 comes to sprint, i bet they will make us upgrade and claim that WINMO "uses to much data"

F SPRINT, they screw over their existing customers by making them pay more for the only good phones that they have

WinMo

WinMo 7 on Tegra chips may be the next "new hotness" they deny us. I'm hoping winmo will always be a staple that SERO users can get. However, when Winmo 7 phones are the new, desired item what will they do? If they take Winmo 7 there will be nothing left even for the Touch Pro 2 crowd. I'm happy with my TP2 now, but what about down the road? Time will only tell...
