Phone replacement policy

I have a Treo 800w and it just started giving me charging problems. It won't charge normally when plugged in. I would have to somehow hold it at some angle and it will start charging but if I let go, it will stop.

I have insurance ($7 /month) If I take it in today to sprint store, is it possible to get it replaced on the spot since I need a working phone immediately. What is the policy?

(I'm wondering, because if they won't replace it right away, I might as well not waste time going in and try the Advanced exchange)

Thanks for your help.

The 800w is at end of life. I am not sure if any SPCS store even *has* any for exchange. They'll either have to order you one or move you to a different phone.

Try this first, find you a sprint store that has REPAIR CENTER, let the tech look at it!!! if you bought it in November 2008, yes you have 1 yr policy, unless the store is out of stockj they will replace you on on the spot. if out of stock have them find a store near you that has them in and get it replaced. Also it could be your charger went bad , I had to get my wifes Lotus charger replaced with in 1 yr and it was instant swap. If they are out of stock, they will reorder and you will get one the next day!! Good luck.

It doesn't matter when You bought it if You have insurance - just take it to the sprint repair center and they'll either fix it for You or replace it for FREE, BUT make sure that the port has no water damage or anything, otherwise they'll void the warranty and tell You to call the insurance company and pay them $50 for a replacement phone.

Anyone get an 800 replaced recently? I'm guessing they have a ton of refurb pos's to replace with but would be estatic if they did a touch pro. Same exact charging issue!

Right now the only people that would be swapped into a TP would if you have a TP. If you have another model of phone, going into a TP will not be an option.

Considering Sprint is moving people from the TP, I wouldnt expect to get one on an insurance claim. The next model would be a Treo Pro.

Yes, I would bet they have many 800w's in stock. Hopefully they will get the PRL update issue fixed sometime soon.

Wouldn't it be $100, not $50?

The "value" of the device is not established by what you can get it for on ebay, or what Sprint would pay you for it. If you dont like the cost of filing a TEP claim, then it makes sense to drop your coverage or go to ebay for any replacements you need.

Like everything else, the choice to insure is certainly yours to make. TEP may be not worth it on certain older devices, but on a device like the TP2, Hero, Pre, etc it is likely worth it to have that level of protection!
