TUTORIAL - How to tether using Internet Sharing with new Official ROM!!
apply to mogul as well

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alright time to consolidate....

In order to get Internet Sharing working properly on the Sprint Touch after running the Official WM6.1 update you will need to do a bit of "tweaking".

You will need a registry editor in order to perform this tweak. I recommend PHM Registry Editor v0.70. It is freeware so you don't have to pay for it but you may use any registry editor of your choice. I personally use Resco Registry.

Using a registry editor, make the following changes:

HKLM\Comm\InternetSharing
Delete this string: Extension - isext.dll

HKLM\Comm\InternetSharing\Settings\ForceCellConnec tion
Change from "Phone As Modem" to "Sprint PCS" <<NO QUOTES

After you have made the above changes, wait THREE minutes(not really necessary to wait this long but just to be safe...) and then soft reset your phone.

After you have finished everything above, proceed to connect using Internet Sharing and enjoy!!

what other things have you found? I find the GPS to not work 100% of the time for me. Any fixes?

For some reason every so often I find my touch in "Phone as modem" mode and I'm not hooked up to my pc. Even with the tweak and isext.dll not in my rom. When it's connected like this GPS will not work until I disconnect and re-connect. Just out of curiosity next time your GPS acts up check what your data connection bubble says,

The reg edits are more of a safe-guard just in case sprint finds out. I used to be able to do it before without any reg edits, but with the latest sprint 6.1 rom, it doesn't work without removing some strings in the registry.

Thumbs down

Hmm... lot of bugs with the Reg edit and using the Mogul on latest rom, Tethering is tough and wmwifirouter not working now! Figuring sprint is probably loging those who dont authenticate properly and banning...Since NO2chem on ppcgeeks seems to have the I 5067 kichen wired I am going back to that as all I really want to work is gps rev a and wmwifirouter to work...sorry for the Premature action...VF

On one of the leaked ROMs, there was an app in the Windows directory called "PPST.exe"

If you run it every couple weeks or so, it downloads some updates via your internet connection & helps to get a fix faster. It made a BIG improvement on the usability of my GPS, so I highly recommend it. I hear it's included in the official Sprint ROM (if not, check PPCGeeks), so give it a shot.
