TEP is NOT an upgrade program

Before you ask the question: "I don't like <insert your model phone here>, if I make a claim with TEP, will they send me <whatever model you want> instead??"

You must remember one thing. The replacement portion of TEP is this:

If your phone is lost, stolen, or water damaged, Asurion will send the SAME MODEL phone for a replacement. It may be refurbished, or if you get lucky, it may be new. The only time they will replace your phone with a different model is if they do not have any of your particular model in stock. For example:

You have a 6700. It is lost, stolen, etc. You call asurion. They send you another 6700. If they don't have any, you will probably get a Mogul. But that is ONLY IF they don't have any 6700's in stock. You do not get to pick and choose the phone that they send you.

If you have an OLDER model phone(usually at least 2-3 years or older), and replacement phones are no longer available for it, they will probably replace your phone with a comperable model. What that means is this:

If you have a Samsung A560(very basic phone), they will not replace it with the newest, best EVDO phone. They will replace it with the most current, basic phone(At this time probably either the LG160 or the Sanyo S1).

I hope some of this information will be helpful to users inquiring about TEP claims. Remember, the whole point of insurance is to REPLACE a possession, not UPGRADE it. Thanks for listening, and have a wonderful day!
