Exclamation SANYO 8400 - First Impressions! KATANA 6700?

I finally had a chance to check out the new 8400 at a company event this week and I'm pretty impressed with it. I've had the 9000 since day 1 and although the 8400 is essentially a mini-9000, it's got a cool look and feel. The outside attachable plates are definitely different compared to say the 8300 and the 7500. The version I played with was silver with a blue-ish mesh on the outside. The outside Caller ID sits lower like the 7500 too. No blue keypad lights! That sucked in my opinion. Just that familar green backlighting like the 8200 series. Can you say Mod?!? Micro SD/Transflash for external memory too. The speaker was pretty loud considering the noise around me. All-in-all, it's nice replacement for the 7500/9000 now with bluetooth. Check out the attached pic for what to look for in-store late next month.

On a related note, the rep said Sanyo is taking a "wait and see" approach to the Power Vision-enabled Katana. They want to see how well the 6600 sells. It's a safe bet there will be one, but he said not to expect anything on it until early 2007. Anyone in the know here in this forum knows the 6700 Katana is on the launching pad so I think it's safe to say early 2007 sounds right.
