IDEN Motorola i1 with Android

Amidst all of the Evo talk, I believe Nextel's iDen device got somewhat left in the dust. The Motorola i1 sports motoBLUR ui, milspec for shock dust and vibration, and a 5mp camera with flash. Not bad for a "dead network". Glad iDen got themselves something cool.

Yea I'm not too excited about the iDen android. Putting a data intensive smartphone on a slow network is going to cause a lot of complaints about internet speeds being slow, etc and a major headache for Sprint reps.

I'm happy for all the people that stay with iDEN because the service with Sprint, TMo, ATT, etc isn't great and are looking for a smartphone. Me personally, I'm waiting for the EVO!!

I remember hearing rumors about that, I guess they were real.

Is it a slider or candy bar?

I think it's completely touch screen.

That's what I figured, maybe I should check out the video engadget has.

Group Connect on i1....

I'm am really tired of all of the launch dates that have came and went for the i1 on Sprint/Nextel. I am considering a Boost Mobile and using my Nextel SIM card in it but, need the Group Connect function. I am assuming like all Boost phones that they do not have that function but, wanted to see if anyone has used a Boost with a Nextel SIM card in it to confirm that Group Connect works. I checked SoutherLinc's site and I could not find any information on their handsets if they have Group Connect or not. Any info from actual users would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

hondonk9, DO NOT put your Nextel SIM into the Boost i1. You WILL lock your phone. Of course you can pay someone to unlock it for you, but you may not have all of the programs from Sprint that should come standard. Navigation is the only one I would care about.

The only problem I have found with this phone is when you need to dial additional numbers. For example, you call and automated system and put the phone to your ear to listen to the options>>>> now when you bring the phone down the screen is black. It is not impossible to turn it back on, but not the easiest either. Took me a little bit to show a customer.

Agree with putting an internet device on IDEN is bad. I have to try to explain to many of the Boost customers what WiFi is, and I still don't think they understand. Not exactly a selling point for the phone. We've only sold one since it launched for Boost.

Oh Please! I still use a i930 Trust me this is much needed, anyone on iDEN is is usually gov/public sector (like myself) the need for uber intrenet is not our primary need - kudo's to moto for finialy updateding

I use Nextel and it's STRICTLY FOR PHONE CALLS. Yes it has a pic/vid capabilities but it's just a phone. Anybody on a Nextel / Iden is using it for phone calls only.

The Hero is my toy, GPS, news, porn, etc. And it makes phone calls too!
