Hi, I have been off-contract about a year now. Phone is an MM-9000, Plan is
SERO F&F 500 at 30/month w/unlimited data.

Business changes dicate moving up to a smartphone. Looking at a BB (prefer
a raised keypad). I'd like to keep my existing rate.

Asked about this at Sprint. A rep suggested that there should not be an increase if I went with a Blackberry... I thought I'd seen/heard differently
somewhere. Any reason I shouldn't be able to go from a Sanyo 9000 to a BB phone without it changing my existing rate- ($30/month is tough to part with).

One question is, being self-employed with a website email address, I'd like to
be able to access that account on my phone. Presently I have to forward
that to a gmail-mobile account to access that business email acct. Can that
be changed on a BB without increasing my $30/month SERO rate?

Sprint rep said something about it possibly being an issue if it is a "corporate" email address but I'm a sole proprietor - it's effectively my "personal" email address associated with my website so arguably isn't just a business address.

Thanks as always for any advice,

Mike

I have had a BB Curve 8330 for about 18 months and am having some difficulties. Before it I had a Samsung Instinct (when they first came out and were the 'HOT' phone). I hated it for numerous reasons and got rid of it before my 30 days was over. Prior to that I had a BB 7105 (I think) for about 3 years. I am kind of bored/tired with BB devices and am enticed by the newer technology.

I think my 8330 is just worn out. I speak about 4000+ minutes per month. Most calls are to existing contacts. I read about 50 emails per day. I send about 10-15 emails per day from the phone. I use the GPS at least a few times per week. I text a few times per week. I hate the BB browser.

I want / need the following features:
Great phone (speaking and hearing) quality
Contact Manager ease of use calling, etc.
Great Email / keyboard ease of use - BTW - I use 3 different POP3 mailboxes
I need the ability to hold a very high number of emails for a long time
Outlook Contact Sync
Outlook Calendar Sync
Outlook Tasks Sync
WIFI access
Much better browser
PAM ability

I am not 'locked in' to specific apps (don't use many) and could just as easily use alternates to perform the same function. I use the following apps.

Vlingo - better voice dialing, browse by voice command, email / text by voice, etc.
Slacker - Music
Handango - primarily for current and forecasted weather in multiple cities.

Some of the issues I had with the Instinct.
- You cannot talk while the battery is charging. Stupidist thing EVER! I do this a lot because I use the phone so much and have to charge mid day sometimes.
- The contacts only showed the phone number. it was a real pain to see other info such as company, email addresses, notes and other things easily visible in a Bberry or on Outlook.
- Proprietary Cables needed to connect to PC
- No provision for a signature on email
- No cut / paste function
- No way to forward info as an email attachment
- Difficult to bring out of hibernation
- Only holds 100 emails

I hope this helps you point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.

I've recently had some problems with my samsung m610 flip phone and took it into the sprint store to see if they could fix it. I have insurance so it's never a problem. I was informed that there was a problem with the software so they were offering me a free exchange with one of 4 phones and since i'm not wanting to sign a contract right now and like being on a month to month plan i thought that was a pretty good deal. I've been happy with my phone but they don't carry them anymore. They offered to exchange it for the samsung rant, the motorola razr2 v9m, or the sanyo katana eclipse or eclipse x whatever the difference is between them. I do a lot of texting so like the idea of the slide out keyboard but i don't like the look of the rant at all and i've heard the screen isn't that great of quality. i also use some programs on my m610 that i'm not sure will even work on these phone including live search, opera mini, where, and google maps. right now i'm kind of leaning more towards the razr2 cause i like the look of it but have seem some pretty horrible reviews. i don't know much about the katana but it's a smaller phone and i'd prefer something a bit bigger since that's why i got the m610. any advice would be appreciated. thanks.

So, my question is that, leaving QWERTY keyboard out of comparison, how much improvement TP2 has over TD, not physically, but more software and real usage wise. Do things like touch response and software optimalization have improved? Is such improvement enough to justify $ 150 price tag difference?

Thanks in advance for your comments!

Hi guys/gals! I'm new here and hoping for some real user feedback.

I am currently running an old Mogul. I like the phone, but wish it had more options, and was able to do more i.e. picture texts, you tube videos, flash player on web sites, etc etc

I am torn between the TP2 and the Hero. I have played with them both at the store and LOVE them both. I am accustomed to a qwerty slide out, but after playing with a Hero in landscape that had the vibratory keypad turned on, I think I could get used to the virtual.

I do 10-50 emails a day, 50-100 texts, need fast and dependable web browsing capabilities, the ability to open/read/modify word/excel/other MS attachments, open/read/modify Adobe attachments, send receive picture texts and emails, and be able to run multiple email accounts on one device.......Gmail/yahoo/company email acct.

Which one of these two phones is the best fit for me? Will the Hero do what I need?

What are the known widespread user issues with each device?

Is there something else coming out in Jan/Feb that I should wait for?

I have SERO as well.

Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!

I'm on a very good "retention" plan due to sprint "slamming" me via an internal software update that changed my account w/o permission - which resulted in huge bills..

I'm interested in a more modern phone, but I do not want to go to a new plan - Sprint just quoted me a "simply everything" plan at $129 that's almost 3x what I pay currently.

I currently have:
# EVDO Casual
# Sprint Power VisionSM Access Pack

I'm looking for a quasi-modern web capable phone... I'd love to buy one of the HERO phones, but they require an "everything" data plan.

Suggestions?

Had the Touch for 2 years. I'm not a big app person, but like the touchscreen and do not want a slide out keyboard.
Would like something similar but that does not require an advanced plan like Everything. How much does that limit my options? Any suggestions?
