Ok so it was just announced that the 700w will be coming to sprint about 8 weeks after the 700p. So uhm........i know practically nothing about each. my main question is if the 700w uses windows.....what does the 700p use??

and then other than that, what would u say are the advantages of each??? Would greatly appreciate it....

was about 2 buy the Treo700 this month....but now that i know the 700w will be out on sprint, then i'ma just wait for that one....i guess just cuz i'm familiar with Windows.

if the 700w is like the Verizon Wireless 700, then i'd wait for the p because it will probably have the same good resolution screen that is resident on the 650. In either case, i'm curious to see what improvements they will roll out with.

All the specs etc are up on Palms website as we speak if you want to take a look at them.

Get the 700P.

The OS is so much more simple and practical for one handed use IMO

The Verizon one that has been out for a while is the 700w. Most reviews have said it to be a steaming pile of poo.
I would expect the hardware between the 700p and 700w to be nearly identical.

"Interesting info. Phone Scoop called to let us know a few hurtful details about the 700p. First, their SDIO slot won't support WiFi (which is like, half the point). PalmAddict quotes Palm's Michelle White as saying that the lack of WiFi is justified by the fact that the phone supports EV-DO. The 700p also does not support voice dialing over Bluetooth, nor does it officially support SD cards over 2GB. However it does come with a basic version of PocketTunes -- but lacks PlaysForSure support. D'oh indeed."

That is real crappy on their part. I understand the wifi/evdo thing but a lot of people at least like the option of having it or not. And no BT voice dialing? :frustrate

Yeah bud, totally agree. Some of my technicians at work could really benefit with a Treo but I need WiFi to work for some of the areas they are in. Even though I would still subscribe to a data plan for when they are not around WiFi.

The PocketTunes thing is neat though, by far one of my favorite apps on my 650.

anybody know if it'll support power vision???

It should support Power Vision. Running EV-DO and being the latest/greatest phone in Sprint's lineup, it would be short-sighted to not be compatible. :tu:

What do you mean by powervision? If you you mean high speed data transfers, yes. If you mean the ringtones, etc, most likely. The 650 supported most of them, i see no reason why the 700 wouldn't.

According to PhoneScoop it still only supports WAV, QCP, and AMR ringtones. At least with more memory you can put a few of those on there, even tho they're huge  Or just go the 3rd party route for MP3 ringtones.

According to the specs at Palm's 700p page (http://www.palm.com/us/products/smartphones/treo700p/specs.html) it supports polyphonic MIDI, MP3, WAV & video ringtones.

o ok sweet... definitely an improvement over the 650 in that area. Hopefully that's not just via 3rd party software.

Definately. For me, I work in a building where I get nearly no signal, and more often than not, i'm in roaming. I hook up to our wifi hotspot, and i can still use my phone for internet access. If my phone didn't do wifi, i'd be stuck.

Well, if you're in an Alltel area, come August you'll be able to roam and data roam on their network and I think it's free...so that's something.
