Well, I hate to say it, but I think eCare especially is no longer giving out ANY more free stuff if you have SERO. Everytime I have called (6 different reps), they all say the same thing. "You hace such a great plan, SERO cannot get anything else free, yadda yadda yadda." TO further prove this, check out this e-mail from eCare when I requested soem stuff (the story in the e-mail is true as well).
Dear Ryan,
Thank you for contacting Sprint together with Nextel. I will be happy to assist you regarding the free and promotional offers.
I noticed that your account is configured with SERO plan. This is a special plan and is assigned to some special accounts. This plan is not available for every customer and you are one of the privileged customers to have all the benefits of this plan.
This plan offers more Anytime Minutes at a lower monthly charge. The plan also includes Unlimited Power Vision (Internet access).
It is not possible to add further free options to the account.
If compared to the Fair and Flexible plans, you have much more advantages with SERO plan on your account.
I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. At the same time, I am very sure that you will understand the limitations at our end.
Thank you for contacting us. Have a great day.
Chris

Question: Hello,
I called the other day regarding a few questions on my account. Before we hung up, the representative told me that I had a free phone on my plan due to my high line of credit. I told him I have no use for it and that I would rather have something else like nights and weekends at 6pm, or text messaging. He put me on hold and tole me that because I have two lines of service, I can pay $7.50 for unlimited text messaging. At the time I did not want to switch over, after thinking about it, I realized it is a great deal. He said I can jut call or e-mail and have it taken care of. I am currently paying $15 for the unlimited and would like to go over to the $7.50 for unlimited. It would be great if you could add this onto my account, along with possibly the nights at 6 (remember, this is in place of the free phone and plan). I have been very happy with the service, and would love to take part in these additions. If I need to re-sign a two yea contract if need be. I do not want to pass up this great offer!
Thank you,
Ryan

Has anybpdy else had this issue. This is probably the tenth e-mail I have sent. Between 6 different reps. I have had no luck either. I think this may have been the end of the "free" era, for us SERO people. It sucks too because it was jsut before I could get anything free

the reps are right.
you have an incredibly cheap plan and if you want extra's, you will have to pay for them, with the money you saved on the plan of course.

I agree, though I wish I had some I am glad they are cracking down on the freebies. They need to make money somewhere. I'll admit to being one of them, but people will just keep trying to get what others seem to get, if people aren't getting it, eventually they will stop trying. Sprint messed up by giving so much stuff away to begin with I think.

^^ That is why i thought you were older.
but the more you preach the more i believe!!!! Sero is a great deal, and while i have a few free items on top of it, in 2 years when the codes expire i dont plan to try and renew them. i will gladly pay for them as the amount said on sero is amazing! went from $67after taxes to $25 after taxes, and while i lost unlimited texting i gained soo soo much more!!!
Just pay for the feature if you want it. if you dont want to pay for it then dont use it!!!

I am inclined to greatly agree. Its too bad, well for me and others, who are never going to get the free stuff. Even after long contracts and other stuff with them. But you are all correct, jsut pony up and pay. That would not be so difficult if I had not been laid off 2 months ago, and have been looking like crazy for a job.. grrrr

It's about damn time they started doing that. People trying to get everything for free these days. Alot of the people who have those plans shouldn't. If you shouldn't be getting the discounts shut the hell up and pay your bill. So rates don't go up for the rest of us who do

Agreeable to all arguments. I for one, will not say how I got my SERO plan..... However, I was speaking with a rep at the local store, and even he said, if they offer it, and people find a way to get it, well, that is there problem. They certainly could have given me the third degree when I called, instead of jsut instantly changing me over to such a "costly" (I mean this as from a point of view from Sprint), plan. If people are going to abuse eCare for free stuff, well why havent they ever started cracking down until now? Then, we wouldnt have all of these "nonsense threads", as well as people boasting about "stealing" from Sprint. I highly doubt Sprint is loosing a dime. There is a thread over at HoFo showing Sprint's Q1 earnings, they had the highest out of any cellco. I was also told by this rep that the store or company as a whole I guess makes $700 per new account, whether it is SERO or any other old plan. Just some food for thought. I doubt any of us need to worry about rates going up. THAT will only happen when people stop paying their bills on time, or all together. Then the account sits, acrewing money, nobody pays for it, so Sprint has to "write it off" one way or another, so lets kick up the price of unlimited text messages by $5. Food for thought......

So... what you saying is the same thing I am saying! If people were not greedy bastards an didn't want everything for free there wouldn't be a problem. I think the rules should be changes to only SPRINT employees get a discount not friends or family. And dude never listen to a SPRNIT store rep 90% of them are clueless and have no idea what is going on. They will say anything to sell a phone.

Granted Sprint store reps are a little out there on some things, I do have the proof about Sprint's Q1 earnings. I am not agreeing with you on people being greedy bastards, if so, then, by all means, under your definition, I am a "greedy bastard", I will highly disagree with that. However, Sprint gave me the tools, along with everybody else, as well as the opportunity to abuse the crap out of their system. If I was in charge, it would be for EMPLOYEES only, like every other CellCO. But I am not in charge. If the oil industry was offering a deal if you *knew* somebody in the industry, you had an automatic $1.50 off every gallon you purchase, but there were some "loop holes", you wouldnt jump on that in an instant? I know you, me and everybody else in the world would. After the oil companies saw that half the world had them, maybe they would learn to crack down. Sprint is finally learning that. But everybody had the opportunity to take advantage of this offer, so they did, just like they would in the gas example (yes poor example, but that is all I can think of at the moment).

People are just supposed to get a SERO plan. Sorry, that's just the way it is. Now if you decided to take advantage... That is of course your choice. Alot people who have SPRINT service and can get a SERO plan (myself included) do not see a real need to do that. If you have a Friend or family member that is a SPRINT employee, then you are entitled to the discount. With that being said... your choice of words to discride yourself is completely up to you.

I do not see this as the customer's fault at all. Granted it is being exploited, but the system should be set up so this is not possible. If it is available to someone that they can get a cheaper plan, then I say anyone should go for it. The fault lies in Sprint for not doing this right. They outsourced it to inphonic, have obviously not done a very good job at authentication in many places, plus even if each account was flagged with an email one could still simply google for many sprint employee's addresses. Again, I agree the crackdown is good, and only legitimate people should be able to get SERO, but I do not blame anyone that got it through whatever means available, because why not? If someone can save a large sum of money by saying they know a Sprint employee, and sprint lets them, then that is sprints fault.

"Because why not" is not a good reason to do anything. Here is an example. What happen if you get a SERO plan granted without your knowledge. And SPRINT should decide to cut you off from the plan after 2 months or so. And they decide to charge you back for the discounts you recieved. Then what do you do? You should know what is on your account... If you don't, than you it becomes your problem not SPRINTS. Again people see a discount and don't question it, don't know why it's there, ignore it. Then it is your fault. You should know id you should get a discount or not.

i must be an odd ball. when i decided to re-up, switching to a SERO plan did not even cross my mind. i would have liked a 5% or 10% loyalty discount, but the $70 credit works for now (if nothing else, i can keep paying what i used to for another 14 months or so (i think). i am taking advantage of the dropped call feature of *2 even though i haven't dropped many calls lately. i dropped enough earlier in my sprint usage and didn't know about it, i figure i might as well (one sprint store rep said something like "damn you've had a lot of reception problems" at one time).

First of all... If SPRINT decides to give it to youy that's you business! Now again if one day they decide to take it away then you be in the same boat you were in before. Adain the bottom line in SERO is only for SPRINT employees Family members and friends. If they decide to give to to whoever then they are at fault. I have negative opinions about lots of things, but SERO is on of the things that is very touchy subject. This is a "forum" which means everyone has a open floor to express thier opinions. I'm glad your saving money because SPRINT screwed up, but don't tell me to keep anything to myself, esp. when I pay to use this forum and you don't. I will always be open to hear what people have to say, but it gets my goat to have someone who wondered onto the site and uses it for free to basicly tell people to "shut the hell up".

I think they should audit all the SERO accounts, any freebies and discounts should be taken off and made incompatible with it. It's already an amazing deal. Just my opinion.
dvsdevelopment
04-30-2006, 07:38 PM
I would have to agree with that, except for the business discounts or anything given before changing over to SERO for previous customers...but then again SERO was meant for new customers in the first place, right? The only reasons I say business discounts should apply are a)Im trying to get mine :) and b)wether or not SERO is cheap it is still a PLAN, not a discount and your business discount should be able to be added.
then again when you sign up for SERO it says MINIMUM $30 so maybe no discounts should be added that make it fall below 30.
ajblbv
04-30-2006, 07:42 PM
I'll agree with business, maybe other discounts even. I don't think discounts should be stackable but that's a whole other opinion. SERO should just be incompatible with most other things. As far as having things before you switch to SERO, most other plans you switch to you lose things that you had before, it is part of the new contract. But who am I kidding? Sprint won't get their act together to this extent, they will just continue to have many inept CSRs and others that give away anything. Oh well, still a good deal with what I got so I am happy.

I have a business discount with my 2 SERO lines. Switched from a family plan to SERO. Corp. Disc. still there + free 7pm OP on 1 line + $5 Service Credit / month! Did everything on my first call, and it took about 30 minutes. CS was exceptional.
I was told the SERO plans are in the system till Dec. 31, 2006.
Though I was told Sprint can pull them anytime after June 30th.

I don't see why it's such a fuss getting SERO. I walked into a store, I want a SERO plan. Sure thing they said. Called up Sprint, talked to someone saying customer wanted SERO. No problem. Done.
Do I know a Sprint employee? Nope. But what's it matter? I feel that it's like the secret menu at In N out. They have them available but if you can only order it if you know about it. Abusing it? Yea right...legit fake? Doesn't even apply. If you get it, you get it. How can one get it legitly over ...not..legitly?
I've asked for freebies a few times. Always shot down. SERO is incompatible bs. However, people here have gotten freebies tacked on to a SERO plan...a brand new plan...not change over so I know it can be done.
For those of you who think it's greedy to ask for free stuff? Go ahead and think that. Go on ahead and take the high road and pay for all those items if you want. Nothing wrong with asking. If it works, it works. If not..oh well. It's amusing reading posts by these "mature" and "moral" people who take the high road and say...I'll pay for the service cause it's damn cheap and I'm a loyal customer. I dunno what world you live in but I want to know cause it seems a whole lot better than the real world.

I can see your point third, when it comes to stacking of freebies, but if Sprint offers something little for free, Im not going to deny it. If a store offers buy one get one free, you're gonna take the offer, right? Either way I dont really care cuz I dont have anything free. I wanted a phone and got it expecting to pay a monthly fee, not expecting to get it then add free stuff and get huge discounts. I knew what I was getting when I signed up.

sprint got what they wanted out of the SERO plan, they got a bunch of new customers..
they already have the system set up, they are stil making money off of the SERO plan..
i have the sero plan, it is a great deal, but do realize, sprint is screwing over numerous customers when it comes to their plan and phone..thats why they allow some customers to get away with a bunch of freebies..
ppl have to realize, that the people on this forum cannot be used to represent the majority of sprint consumers, most don't even know what the hell the sero plan is..
grab a freebie if you can..sprint can give, they can also take..

all that is no justification for getting something for nothing, good day.

Well, I have SERO, and just managed to get Free 7pm N&W. Had to "reset" my 2 Yr agreement (was only 5 months into it anyways). After calling and complaining about some Spam Text Messages I had gotten, I could not convince them to give me free unlimited Text Messaging, but got them to block all Text Messaging (don't want to use it anyways, sick of calling in to get credit for random spams, never ever signed up for anything that would give me text messages). So they gave me Free 7pm N&W.
Well, I think I got the "Free" 7pm N&W.
Because my plan as listed online shows it as $5.00.
So I thought I was screwed and the rep justed added it for the fee and not Free.
But I got this email from eCare after I inquired about it:
Thank you for contacting Sprint together with Nextel. I will be happy
to assist you regarding the unlimited night & weekend minutes starting
at 7PM.
I noticed that unlimited night & weekend minutes starting at 7PM for
$05.00 is added to the account absolutelty for free. This free
unlimited night & weekend minutes starting at 7PM option does not
reflect on the online account.
I am confirming you that this free option is included on the account and
assure you that the account will not be charged $05.00 for this
unlimited night & weekend minutes starting at 7PM.
Please let us know if you have any further questions. Thank you.
