So I'm sitting around playing with my phone trying to learn how to set up my e-mail account on it. So to make a long story short, I figured out a way to get myspace alerts and other various e-mail alerts without having cingular.

I don't know about the rest of the e-mail clients, but I use gmail, so it's pretty easy as far as forwarding goes.

First you need to log into your e-mail client. Then click the 'settings' tab. It also could be labeled as 'preferences'. When you get there, find a spot that says 'set up forwarding', or something that contains the word forwarding. Now click the box that says something like 'enable e-mail forwarding'. Near it, there should be a spot where you enter the e-mail address you want your e-mail forwarded to. In that spot, enter your SprintPCS e-mail address (your sign on name to go online on your phone).

Now go to http://www.sprint.com and log in to your account. Go to 'Sprint PCS mail' under the 'Online Tools' box.

If at this point your browser takes you a page that says you have to sign up for wireless web mail, access the e-mail from your phone, then try it on your computer's browser again.

At this point you should be viewing your inbox. Go to 'Settings and Preferences' on the left-hand toolbar, and then click on 'Notification' at the top. Enter the original e-mail address where it says 'Your messages will be forwarded to this e-mail address.' That way, any e-mail that comes to your sprint PCS mail will be forwarded back to your original account.

Now scroll down to where it says 'Notification by PCS Phone' and for now, select 'All'. Now hit 'done'.

Congradulations! At this point, whenever you get an e-mail, it gets forwarded to your phone, and your phone sends you a notification in a text message. An example of one would say:

---Message----
from: cocapunk@sprintpcs.com
Subject: You have mail from New Myspace M "Check your PCS Mail!"
----End-------

There ya go! Way to beat freakin' cingular.

E-mail me if you're confused or just have questions or comments.
