View Full Version : Question about Powervision...

I've searched and read alot of threads about this, but I'm still confused.

I currently have 2 sanyo 2300s with Free Vision(I get charged $10 per phone, but I have a credit of $10 to make it free)...well I just ordered 2 blades...and I don't think I have Powervision in my area. Can I keep my free vision and use it on my new phones, or do I have to upgrade to PV? Also, if regular vision will work on my 2 blades...do I have to call in and have them make some changes or something? Or will the vision just start working automatically on my blades and it will not charge me?

You do not need to change your vision plan. What are you confused about, exactly?

I'm confused on the part where my new phones are A900 which use Powervision only...but I currently have regular vision on my plan for FREE. I read different threads stating that I need to upgrade my regular vision to Power Vision and some say you don't have to. I would like to keep my regular vision since it's free and I can't get Free Powervision. I just don't want to get charged for using Powervision when I only have regular vision...

And if normal vision WILL work on my A900...I don't need to do anything when I switch to my A900 from Sanyo 2300? Will the regular vision automatically start working on my A900 when I switch phones?

Ok, great question, good phrasing. This we can help with.
You're making some assumptions (or rather, Sprint fed you some assumptions). The PowerVision (PV) phones can all use the "old" Vision (V) system. If you are in a market with no PV coverage, you will still get V service on a PV phone. This is not your fault for thinking so, because it's the standard Sprint line *grumble*.

That said, Sprint does not currently have the technology to tell between PV usage and V usage when it comes to raw data (web browsing and such). That's why alot of people on this board want to keep grandfathered V plans. You will not, however, get access to the premium services on the PV plan (radio, TV, all that stuff) without an additional charge.

Thank you for clarifying that for me. So as long as I only use the internet(web browsing) and picture mail...I'll be fine?

If your previous plan provided picture mail, then yes.

Crap! Then the Sprint CSR that activated my new blade today on the phone misinformed me (I was paying $5.00/mo. for unlimited Vision)..she said the A900 won't work with standard Vision service.... she took that off and gave me one month of PowerVision free... I cannot stomach paying $20/month after that... it's a phone, not my desktop computer. I will call customer service today and ask them to reinstate my regular Vision service...

If your previous plan provided picture mail, then yes.

i have the Sanyo RL-4930. Non EVDO phone, and no camera obviously. Is there anyway to get a $10 Vision plan instead of the $15 I am stuck with taking. I don't use the web that much, but certainly can't use TV or some of those "power" features. would they give me the $10 as an option with just the unlimited web an IM...or am I stuck with the $15 Power Vision? I'd really appreciate some advice...and I hope i can save $5.

thanks

Quick question.

Does anyone know if the PV on a SERO plan is basic, mid, or ultimate?

I am looking to purchase a 700p and had some PV questions. Are there any hidden charges with the $25 PV Ultimate?

For example, if I stream audio/video on the 700? What does the $.02/K apply to?

TIA

I just ordered my 700p today and it should arrive on Wednesday. I am coming from a Toshiba VM4050 to a 700p. I have been with Sprint for 7 years now and on my current plan have regular vision.

I understand that in order to get Sprint TV and the EVDO on my 700p I will need to upgrade to one of the Power Vision plans. This evening, while ordering the 700p with the retention person, she outlined the 3 different PV plans available, and noted that she could offer me a monthly $5 credit towards whichever PV plan I chose. I told her that I'd call back on Wednesday when I receive the 700p to add the PV plan to my plan.

My question then is: Is there some type of retention deal for PV that I can get, that would best the $5 credit? [I'm thinking about possibly going for the $25 PV plan by the way]. Just wanted to make sure that there aren't any special retention deals anyone had received regarding this.

Thanks!
