sister is going off to school in dominca (no sprint service)

wouldn't mind staying with sprint, would like her number if possible..

shes been a customer since '99, and has the old 300 min nights at 8 plan for $30 with $5 pcs-pcs..

she will be in dominca for ~14 months total..
4 months there, two weeks here (doing that 2-3 times)

for the two weeks shes here, she needs her phone..

i called retention for her last night, and was actually offered:
1000 AT mins
nights at 7
pcs-pcs calling
500 texts
for $40

and, the guy was nice enough to a 6700 for $250..

i didn't accept anything, as i would like to here from the gurus on here first..

she will be leaving on april 30th, billing cycle ends on may 24th..

he suggested she be on the vacation plan, and then reactivate when shes back..

someone also mentioned porting her number to a pre-paid service..how would that work?

after talking with her, she decided she didn't want the bulky 6700, so i told her id take it off of her hands, and find her an a920 or a900..would sprint let me switch phones after sending her out a 6700?

shes been out of contract for several years, so she can leave, but i don;t think she'll be able to find a much better deal after shes back...

I'm not sure what to say...but I do have a question that is related...

Next fall I will be in the Czech Republic for 3 months...is there a way to put a "hold" or something on my account so I don't have to continue to pay each month?

$7/mo to keep ur phone and plan, the phone wont be usable for that period of time, and when u re-activate it, it automatically resigns a new two year..

i believe there were a few more details, but those are what i know for sure..

Eh, I think I'll pass on that then...I'll be over a year into my contract at that point and I'm not sure if I'll want to sign a new two year contract at that point - I love Sprint and all, and have no feelings like I'd switch carriers etc...but I'm just hesitant to sign a new two year a year into my contract, you know?


If I continue to pay my bill - but not use my phone, AT ALL...will it get cancelled or something because of account inactivity?

Screw that! My bill is only about 24/mo as it is right now...I'll just pay the difference.

Well then you might as well leave it as it is for the few months. You can even probably pay up front to avoid the bills. Or online.

Yea, that's not a bad idea to pay up front...

I just don't want them messing with my credits/discounts...It's worth it to pay the extra few bucks to keep it as is and not deal with the pain of re-constructing everything.

Sounds like the only option without gettin suckered into another 2 year contact but with the plan offered wouldnt b such a bad idea is 2 jus keep payn why shes away save enuf to pay all 4 months b4 she leaves
