Hello everyone...
About 3 months ago I was given a Sierra Wireless AirCard 580 by my office. Ever since I've had it, if I'm using it on 1X (in my area anyway) it times out an inordinate amount. Usually loading websites takes at least one timeout and then a refresh before they load. Same for checking email, signing on AIM, logging onto my VPN... anything really. If I have, say, a download going, or if I am doing something at all times that keeps the connection alive I won't have this problem, but if I let it inactive for even 5 seconds guaranteed it will time out the next page.
I have used EV-DO in the Raleigh, NC area and this does not happen when I'm on EV-DO, leading me to believe that it's a local network problem and not a card problem.
The problem does seem to be getting worse now than it was when I got it. Before I complain to the telecommunications coordinator at work about it I thought I'd ask here... is this a problem anyone has seen before? Is it a faulty card or is something wrong with the network that no one has fixed over 3 months?
