Q. What is KOZ?
A. KOZ is a flie format that is used in the Sprint Music Store. When you download a song from the Sprint Music Store, it's in KOZ format.
Q. Is there a program to convert to KOZ?
A. No, there isn't. However, KOZ is the same thing as AAC+.
Q. How do you convert to AAC+?
A. It's quite simple...Download and install MediaCoder. (http://mediacoder.sourceforge.net/dlfull.htm)
Run MediaCoder.
To add files, click "Add File" To add an entire directory, click "Add Directory".
Once your files are in the queue, select the output folder.
Click on "3GPP AAC+" and select the desired bitrate. 24kbps to 48kbps are recommended, but 32kbps sound great.
Uncheck "Enable Parametric Stereo".
To make your music louder, click File >Settings >Audio Filters >Volume Normalization >Value >Yes.
Then click Apply >OK.
Now, you're ready to convert your files! Just click "Start" and find them in your output directory when they are finished.
Thanks for the information. I've followed the instruction. I've saved it to my micro card for my Lg Rumor (sprint). When I go to Settings/tools, sounds, ringer type, voice calls, caller ID, my Album, nothing is seen in the memory card.
I saved the file in my memory card both outside the DCIM and inside. Inside I created a "ringtone" folder. Outside I just saved the files without a folder. What am I doing wrong?

Wow, I forgot I made this thread
Unfortunately, you can't set ringtones from the Memory Card. Use this (http://rumkin.com/tools/sprint/index.php) uploader. Just put in your number and pick the file to upload. You'll get a text with a link in it, just follow it and it will download to the phone memory and then you'll be able to set that fine as your ringtone.
This guide was actually created so you can use AAC+ in the Sprint Music Store.
Darn. I'm cheap and don't use text. I emailed Sprint and they told me I could do it with a memory card but it needed to be KOZ. I know aac+ is Koz but my phone does not recognize it. I with there was a converter that would specifically list it as KOZ instead of AAC+.
Thanks though for your response.

You can change the file extension to .koz but I don't know how that would read in the phone. It wouldn't see it at all, but I don't know how it would work in the Music Store.
Sorry that Sprint misinformed you, but you can't do it from the memory card, unless you have a Smartphone.
Well thanks. I'm still in my 30 day period. Might have a eyeball to eyeball discussion with the sales rep. See about getting a more user friendly phone. It's a shame. The Rumor has potential. Just falls a little short.

Rumor was a great phone, however, it did have its downfalls.
If you pay for web, I would recommend getting the Rant. Same form factor, but it will have high speed EV-DO. I never used one, but that's something you might want to look into.
So how could I take koz files off My phone and save them?

They download from the Music Store onto your memory card. Just pop the card into your computer and you'll see them in a folder called MUSIC, I believe.
Then I can just convert them? I thought I read somewhere that the files did not sound good if you did this.

I've converted several koz music files I downloaded off Sprints Music Library to Mp3 and they sound great. Maby it's the software you use.
