Louie's site doesn't have music ringtones anymore. Look for AAC ringtones, they have the best quality.

AAC is the best quality, but it's only compatible with MM phones. You will have to use QCP (voice) ringtones.
But back to the original question: What is the difference? :)

If you read any of the above posts you'll know that the quality is the difference...

Yes I get that but each format has three factors: quality, size and compatibility.
I was looking for a little bit more information in those areas so that whether I am making ringers or directing customers towards them I can provide them with the best answer for their particular phone.
Is that to much to ask?

QCP is pretty much compatable with any 3G Sprint phone. They are also extreamly small files, but because of that the quaility is very low.
MIDI is universally compatable. they cannot have have voice or real sound though. the MIDI file format is more like instructions for the phone on how to make the tune; its not digiatlly recorded sound. think of it as sheet music for the phone. these are generaly the type of ringers that come pre-loaded on a phone. These files are tiny in size.
MP3's can are not very compatable at all as ringers. Only some Multi-Media phones can use them as ringers; pretty much only if it has a MP3 media player (like the 5600, 9000, 900, etc). They can be pretty big in size, but it depends on the copression. the quaility can be variable too, depending on the compression; but just like an mp3 on your computer they have the potential to sound great
MP4 (also know as AAC or M4A ringers) are pretty well supported but only on Multi-Media phones; wich is most all newer/high-end phones (much better support than MP3 ringers though). These files are actually the sound portion of a MP4 file and generally have better compression than MP3's, meaning they can be smaller without loosing quality. Like MP3's they can sound great, but these are more widely supported that MP3's and tend to be just a bit smaller. If you phone supports them this is your best bet.
Hope that helps
Wow! Thank you!
I appreciate you breaking it down.
I can always tell people what type to use but I never know why. :)
