Hi all, I recently purchased the Samsung A900, and am having trouble connecting to my PC. I'm running Windows XP, and my phone comes up as an Unknown Device when I connect through USB.

The suggestions Windows gives me are to try reconnecting the device (which has the same result) or replace the device. I googled and found some drivers from Samsung, but after downloading and installing them nothing has changed when I try to connect. I did reboot my computer after installing the drivers also.

Anyone know a way to get Windows to recognize my phone? :fingers:

I cannot figure out how to edit my post, but I did want to add that I have tried going to Tools > Mass Storage > Connect to PC while my phone was connected to my PC. All I get though is a message to 'please connect usb cable' even though it is already connected.

Any help is appreciated!

did you install the samsung drivers.. ? in not sure where exactly you can download them by themselves, but they come included with the sprint connection manager, and the music store backup program.

I had that happen once and I freaked out. Although I had downloaded the drivers, suddenly it wouldn't recognize the phone. However, I re-installed the drivers easily and quickly, and everything came right back to me! I suggest trying that when you get a chance. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice everyone. I still haven't been able to get my computer to recognize my phone though. I have tried installing and uninstalling the driver off of Samsung's site, rebooting when prompted but all I ever see is 'USB Device Not Recognized'

I have done the same with the Samsung driver packaged with Sprint PCS Connection Manager with the same result. :irked:

The 7500 doesn't support mass storage. You can only load mp3 files on it, with the sprint music store backup program thing { http://www.musicstore.sprint.com }. This program also comes with the proper drivers, but you have to make sure your phone is NOT connected, and follow the directions in each picture very carefully. Some people have gotten BitPim to work with their 7500. by using selecting the 8300, with the SANYO serial port, but I haven't been successful.

What OS are you running? You shouldn't even need to install the drivers to get your computer to recognize your phone as a removable storage device, but it also doesn't hurt. Also try plugging it into a different USB port. I would first uninstall the drivers completely and try to get your comp to see it is a removable device. If that doesn't work, install the drivers again and install EVERYTHING. Modem drivers and EVERTHING. Every single window that pops up (and there's a lot of them), click through each one to install.

I have the A900, I've been able to upload pics and vids via usb since I downloaded the driver. Now no matter how many times I uninstall, reinstall, and reboot, the phone says to connect a usb cable, and my pc says the device mal***tioned, replace or repair. I'm going to try to dl the driver again, until then does anyone have some advice? Thanks.

I've had the software successfully running when I first purchased the phone, in mid February...unfortunately on someone else's computer (uninstalled since then)...
I've been unsuccessful installing this on a new e1505 Dell Inspiron, it simply will NOT work. Oh, and I've been having some data corruption in my pic/video albums. I'm not overly happy with this phone but at least it's rubbery :)
