what happens when you're online surfing the web with data transferring and at that time you get an incoming call? does it automatically go to your voicemail or do you get a message asking if you'd like to take the call? does it get treated differently depending on whether you're using Vision or PowerVision (EV-DO)? I'm hearing different things from different sources on exactly how this situation is treated, so if someone could clear things up I'd appreciate it.
Also, could someone tell me how Cingular treats such a situation when you're using MediaNet? Does having a EDGE capable phone make a difference?
Thanks!

well i know with the a900 there is option in the phone you can turn off/on, i'm not sure exactly what it's for but it allows incoming calls even if data is been transmitted

for the most part, they go to voice mail
if there is a pause in data transfer, it may come through to the phone
With my a920,I went to menu,settings,display,0,DDTM,and changed setting to off. It allows voice calls during PV only. Service code is 040793. Do not know about other phones.

1xRTT (Vision) is not capable to transmitting voice and data at the same time. EV-DO (Power Vision) is. BUT, most Sprint branded phones are programmed not to; you can override this. What is the phone you are interested in? I have done this is the A900 and MM9000 and it's worked find.
Do note, however, that it depends on what you're doing at the time of the call (or what your connection is transmitting when you get the incoming signal, or whatever other technicalities you want to get into). Bottom line is that while it works most of the time, it does not work all time time, which is why I think Sprint disables it be default.

Cingular reps I've spoken to claim that their system allows you to get incoming call notifications even while you're on the internet and data is transferring. is this true?

Short answer: yes
Long answer (abridged):
The old CDMA/1xRTT network used the same channel for transmitting voice and data. Hence you could not get a call when using the channel to transmit data. GSM/EDGE/GPRS networks (Cingular) uses different channels for voice and data.

How we MM9000 users enable calls while we're watching Fox News for example??
Thanks.

Did you have to do something special on the MM-9000?
I know I was in Telenav and the phone rang because it wasn't transmitting data, but as soon as it started to transmit, it sent the call to voicemail.

When I did my last ESN swap, I made note of all the numbers they told me to punch in... came in handy later ;)

I emailed e-care today and got it :)
I used to work for Sprint, so I told the rep that, and that I needed to re-program my phone, and instead of spending 30 minutes on the phone with a rep I would rather just have my MSL and do it myself...and they replied with it.
Being an avid PV user, I need to find out how to stop missing calls while browsing

You need to get your MSL code, the rest of the procedure is posted on here somewhere. I've used it and it works.
I emailed e-care and asked for my MSL code and told them that I needed to reprogram my phone. I told them I already knew how to do it and it would be faster for me to just do it instead of waiting on hold for customer service.
