:wavey: SU newbie here. Just got hooked up with Sprint & SERO with the 920 and I'm lovin' it like a mouthful of chickie mcnuggets!
I've spent what seems to be all of my time lately learning about my phone and the goodies & services out there for it. One thing that repeatedly seems to make me scratch my head is the mention of Vision vs Power Vision. I have read through posts and threads like crazy and can't get a firm grasp of this. All I can figure out is that Vision is obviously what came before PV. How it is different, I don't know. Also, it seems as if my phone connects to both - again, I don't know how, what, or why. I don't see a difference yet.
Can someone enlighten me or point me in the right direction? Thanks so much. I look forward to learning much more.

PV is faster, and if you subscribe to any of the TV channels, it is clearer.

Im new to sprint as well. so dont quote me on this =P
I think vision is the older internet, not as fast, but connectable anywhere where you can get a cell signal.
power vision is the newer EVDO version thats much faster, but isnt available in all areas. if you cant get an EVDO signal you fall back on the older vision for internet.
also older phones cant get power vision and I think all phones that support power vision force you into paying the 15$ for it rather then being able to pay 10$ for the older vision if you wanted it.
someone correct me as Im sure I got something wrong =D

well, not everywhere.
just anywhere you can get a Sprint signal.

The one thing that you missed is that you get PV speeds on a PV phone as long as PV is available, even if you're on a V plan.

So basically both Vision and PVision are data/internet/pcs picture and video mail access from your Sprint phone. Since I have a 920, or a PV phone, anywhere on the EvDo network I will pick up and use the higher speed Power Vision. On "older" Sprint networks where EvDo is not available I will just pick up and use the slower Vision connection. When I'm not on a Sprint network at all (roaming) I won't get data/internet access period.
Did I get that right? Is there any way to tell which one I'm on when I'm using the phone?

Yes, you are correct. You can tell by the Icon on the phone.Usually PV is the Arrows shooting up and down. The RV is just the flags going left and right. You can get the icon list in your phone too.
I don't know about pictures since I don't use them myself. as far as data access is concerned, you got it right. first post from my cellphone!

I just upgraded to an A920 on an old Vision plan. When I called to activate it I was told that the A920 is a Power Vision phone and cannot be used on a Vision plan. Is this incorret? Should I try to acivate it again?
Thank you.

Search...the...forum........please.
To summarize, a PV phone can be used on a V plan but Sprint doesn't want to admit it.

Just to clarify a few things - PowerVision and Vision are both Sprint plans. EVDO and 1x are CDMA data technologies. And an EVDO capable phone doesn't need to have a PowerVision plan to use EVDO technology. - sheuerka

Yeah, I just ordered an A20 but I only have vision, and am not planning on upgrading to power vision. But I will still browse the internet at full powervision speeds, although I'm only paying for vision?

If you don't NEED power vision on a EVDO phone, and regular vision still get's the high speed, why would I get power?

Unless your lucky you get forced into pv if your phone is a pv phone.

sooo if you buy a phone with power vision you have to pay for it...?

Some people say they didn't have to change to pv but i know many of us were forced into it. if your forced to change, ask for credit to help offset the cost.

Well, as part of my 2 year contract renewal, I got 5 A920's for 30 dollars a piece. Also, she gave me a discount on vison, but NOT power vision. I guess that means I wasn't forced into power vision, so this means for the price of Vision i'm getting power vision speeds?

I was promised no changes also. 3 months later my pic mail didn't work, so i called cs to see why. found out they switched me to pv, and i had also lost unlimited texts so my bill was 300 dollars more than usual. i ended up getting texts back and credited but had to take the pv package. i also got credited monthly for the pv, but it was still a pain to deal with after promising no changes.
