I just went through the whole rigamarole with Customer Service. I'd been getting horrible reception in my house for the last week or so and couldn't dial out on my phone. I called and complained and, being out of contract, I figured I had the upper hand. I told the sales person that I could get a better deal with Verizon and get a new Razor phone for only 100 bucks. I also told her that they would give me a 25% dicsount because I work for Motorola. Now get this...
After I told her all that, she proceeded to tell me how bad those Razor phones are! I'm thinking to myself, "Didn't I just tell you I work for Motorola?" So, I ended the call and called back asking for a supervisor. Luckily, I got a guy who used to be in retention/cancellation, so he transeferred me right over.
With retentions, I explained my plight and how my current phone - the A740 little blue pill...er, phone - wasn't working well. I told him the comparable offer and explained what I wanted - the a900 with nothing on my bill changed. Well, he offered the 150 upgrade fee as well as an extra 100 bucks off the phone via a service credit. So, I was fairly happy since that was basically what I would have gotten with Verizon. A 99 dollar phone. But, I decided to press on and mentioned the crap service I'd have. He said he could go up another 50 bucks, thus dropping the price of my phone to 50 bucks. I was also able to keep my unlimited texts and my picture vision.
Here's my current plan - 350/unl 8pm N/W 15.00 picture vision, free pcs-pcs, 5.00 credit on rigers, etc each month and 23% off my bill because of work. So I pay 38.50 plus taxes/fees each month.
My question is, should i have fought for a better plan, or was I right to leave well enough alone and walk away with better than what i had originally wanted? Reading your stories on here makes me wonder. Either way, I can't be unhappy because I got better than what I wanted, so that probably answers my question anyway...
