Does anybody know any zipcodes where Sprint does not get service at all?

Don't worry, I am not leaving Sprint. I just need a new phone for cheap, but need to keep the same number, and I'm going to use this as an excuse to cancel one of my lines if I can't convince customer service to pricematch sprintnetwork. I'll port the number to some other company, buy the phone, port back over and cancel the other company's service before their guarantee or whatever is over. Sprint loses nothing because I would still be a customer, and I would still end up with all my lines active. In fact, they would gain a few bucks if sprintnetwork makes me sign up for that $60 plan or whatever.

Hmm... I entered random numbers to make the zipcode 73832, and apparently, Arnett, OK does not get Sprint service.

I know Sprint does not get coverage on most of the Oregon coast. Very spotty even though maps show decent roaming coverage.

Interesting scheme.

how would i be scamming another carrier?

i'll port it to t-mobile, i already know i hate t-mobile, so i'm not happy with their service, they just don't know that i wasn't happy with it to begin with

yea...okay, fine, i admit it

I dont think sprint will cancel one of your lines as you describe. I think when it comes to canceling on coverage, its an all or nothing thing.

Is the line you wish to upgrade out of contract? If it is then you do not need a whole scheme. You can simply port out to t-mobile (the carrier mentioned) on a cheap prepaid phone (target sells them on sale for about $40) and then activate the new line of service with sprint, porting back when its available again.

Porting out and in is NOT instant, so the idea that porting to a contract carrier would be done in 15 days is unlikely. Many may have 100% luck with it, but assuming its all gonna go as planned may have you stuck in a contract with another carrier because the port took too long :(

YMMV............. hopefully you will make the right decision!

None of the phones are out of contract. I've had one of the phones for more than 2 years, which is why I might be able to get them to pricematch, but I signed new contracts on all lines in August so that I could get a new plan and the free N/W at 7 and free roaming.

wow.......... i've only had to renew the main line of the plan to get a new contract......... are you sure that all lines have the same contract date? I'd check plan details at sprint.com as you may be surprised.

I just upgraded a phone at radioshack and apparently the contract paperwork was never sent to sprint so i got the rebate with no extention of agreement!

Like I said though, I think its an all or nothing on coverage issues and I believe they require proof that you have moved. Probably wouldnt be worth it if you had to go thru all that. Glad I have a relative in a sprint dead zone if I ever need to get out of contract!

The main line was renewed when I got the new plan and the add-ons. The second line was renewed because I got a new phone on that line. The third line was just added last August, so that still has a contract.

There are a lot of small areas in LA that are a-roam or no coverage.

Anyone know what kind of proof they need that you've moved? I live in Phoenix, however my whole family is on my plan and they are moving to an area without coverage, I'm planning on going to Helio.... since I have 5 lines it'd be pretty pricey to just cancel my contract. I love sprint but there's no point if 4 of the 5 phones aren't going to have service at home. Plus I've been wanting to try out Helio anyway....

Do I just have to call and give them my new address? what kinda proof are they going to want that "i've moved" even though I'm not the one moving to the area without coverage it's everyone else on the plan....????

and you realize that if you do that you will have to pay an activation fee with sprint as well would have to repay your deposit and your first bill will be prorated. as well you will loose the gain and offers you get for being a long time customer and will loose any loyalty or grandfathered features you have. as well you have to make sure your sprint account is at zero and that it has been cancelled for 30 days before they can do a new activation for you. otherwise if will just ask you to reactivate the old acct. really, your plan is not going to work as smoothly as you may think

Well, if they would allow me to take just one line off, then I see no problem with getting back on the same plan, as I would just re-add another line.

However, I don't think I'll need to do this. Retentions is supposedly giving me a free a900 (although they failed to ship it the first time around, I'll find out tomorrow if they shipped it this time), so I could always sell that after a little bit and still essentially get the 6700 for about $100, assuming the price goes down in a little while.
