Just got my audiovox 8912 and am trying to figure out how to put mp3 or wav ringtones on it. Previously had a vox 8910 through alltel, and it was fairly easy through bitpim. Just wondering if anyone had any experience with this. I tried searching and found nothing.
Ive also heard here and there that the sprint version of the audiovox phone isnt as good as the others? Dont really see how thats possible but if anyone has any input i would love to hear it.

Don't know much about the phone, other than Sprint's never really had a good Audiovox phone. At any rate, it will take QCP ringtones.

yea i assumed that it would at least take the qcp like my vi2300, i noticed that most all the sprint phones do when reading the post that has been stickied in this section about making ringtones.

Well, all the old ones do... Most of the phones now can take AAC ringtones, which are higher quality (pretty much MP3 quality).
So, yeah... QCP is it. No MP3, no WAV. Then send them to your phone with an uploader--can't use BitPim unless it's a MIDI ringtone. There's a sticky at the top of this forum with a list of uploaders. Lemme know if there's anything else!

yea ive used focus on my vi2300 so thats no problem. So what is the deal with no ringtones since it is esentially the same phone as the 8910 I used on alltel. Is the sorftware different within the phone for sprint that doesnt allow us to use ringtones? Sprint must not like us having nice quality ringtones, because in all honesty, QCP is dreadful.

On the older phones, QCP was your only option and back then they were actually pretty nice, considering before that your only option was MIDI. Now, most of the phones will take AAC and/or MP3 (MM phones--lower-end models still have to take the dreaded QCP).
And yeah, the inability to add ringtones through BitPim is pretty much a Sprint thing I guess. But at least you can still do it with an uploader. Could be worse--could be Nextel.

I just now (6/27/2006) downloaded the newest BitPim and it doesn't support any Audiovox phone. Not anywhere on the drop down menu.

Have you tried using the generic CDMA profile, or any of the other profiles? Just 'cause the phone's not listed doesn't mean none of the profiles will work. That could be the case in the end, but it doesn't hurt to try :)

I know for a fact with the alltell audivox you could juse other CDMA phone as the selection and it would work just fine with bitpim
